I also use the Vitamin Shoppe brand 15oz. It was the cheapest one, if I can recall, and it's not in a glass container (in case my DD gets to it). It says "organic extra virgin coconut oil"....organic unrefined cold-pressed. Works for me!
I have no clue what category my cocnut oil falls in. I got it from the ethnic cooking isle at the supermarket. The brand is Ramela and it just says COCONUT OIL on the front.
How can I tell?
If it is refined or isnt virgin should it still work for my hair?
Nonie and any other helpful LHCFers if I'm only using it on my hair does it really matter if it's refined? Trying to buy some hair oils and the hair budget is slim, trying to maximize my dollar.
I guess Im the only one who uses regular LouAnna 100% Coconut Oil(yep the one used for baking and such)...it works wonderfully for me for years! More bang for your buck.
Tropical Traditions Gold Label Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment. Its 100% unrefined cold pressed coconut oil with higher protein content (naturally from coconut) to benefit the hair
Buy three/four coconuts, make sure they look dark.
Grater or blend the coconuts (if you use a blender you will need to add water into the blender) - add one cup of water into grated coconuts, squeeze out coconut and strain into a strainer.
Put the strained coconut water into a pot and let it boil. Do not agitate.
Cook until you see the oil swimming on the top, then use spoon to remove oil.
Hope this helps.
