I've never seen indigo sold under any brand, I purchased from henna for hair....

Henna - Jamila or Reshma - These are the only 2 that I've ever used and stick with what I know. Color release is vibrant for both

I use the Henna from the Indian shops that come in the box ( the one they use for decorating the hands) because it does what I want for my hair as far as conditioning the best and color preparing my hair for Indigo that I get from Reverend Bunny, Catherine etc. HTH

Never purchased indigo, and I always use FromNatureWithLove's henna.

I use this henna as well. I find that you can't beat the price either. I bought some indigo from www.mehndiskinart.com but haven't used it yet because my hair was and still is in braids since I ordered it. I can't wait to use it when I take these braids down. I also buy a lot of products wholesale from mehndiskinart, like all my ayurveda powders and oils.

I've used Jamila, Nour and Reshma henna.

I like Jamila the best. It seems that no matter what I use with it, it rinses a bit easier than the other two.

I've not used indigo yet.

I've never used henna before but I might try it at the end of the year. I'm doing C&G now (If all goes well, I would have completed a year long stretch). Subscribing...

Ok I have shoulder length 4b hair….how many (g’s) of the jamilia henna do I order And indigo??? …100g, 200g, etc..

...id like to have enough too completely coat my hair

Lush, of course. It has a cocoa butter base which makes for easier application and there are no hidden chems to be found. I also like the fact that there is Indigo added to enhance color even more (I use the Caca Noir - black - on my hair). It also doubles as a conditioning treatment :yep:

Really??

..doubles how???

Ans so using this 'Lush' brand I wont have to use indigo afterwards....it will turn my hair colour black?

Has anyone ever order the henna/indigo mix from mountain rose herbs?

I ordered the Mahogany colored henna from them and it wasn't that great. So, I am trying to finish up their batch, then I'll be using some henna I purchased directly from India.

So per my experience, I wouldn't order from them again.

Good luck!!

It took me FOREVER to get all that grit out of my hair. And I'm talking after rinsing a zillion times, co-washing 3+ times, DC 1x, adding oils..I mean I was going NUTS...:wallbash:

The 2nd attempt was better, (I basically emptied a bottle of condish and oils on my hair pre-applying the henna) but still not the greatest.

I have enough for 1 more batch, then I'll be done w/ this brand of henna.

And I guess I was expecting my hair to get some type of color since I did order the Mahogany blend, yet my hair is still as blk as ever:rolleyes:.

But this was just my experience, maybe others have had a (+) one that they can share.

I bought my henna from fromnaturewithlove.com and the efforts were the same as described here and frankly I believe I read somewhere that hennas take about 7 - 10 good washes to get it all out with the cheapie conditioners, then it would be ready for dc-ing.

Also henna does not lighten black hair, it simply adds a somewhat reddish tint to lighter shades of hair. Often when you see someone who's hair received some color from henna, their hair is usually either brown or lighter in color. Blonds gets a really nice color from henna. If you would like to have a reddish or mahogany color, you would have to lighten your own hair with maybe some bleach or some type of peroxide. Read up about henna on this site it will help you to get a tremendous understanding of how henna really works: www.hennaforhair.com. HTH.

Please check out this site for your answer to this question: www.hennaforhair.com. They have in-depth information on henna and a tutorial on application as well. My hair is APL and I used 100g mixed with 1 TBS each of amla, bhringraj, shikakai, and brahmi powders and I had enough left over to do my hair again. But if you will not be using other powders you may need to use 150 grams or so. If you have any left over, it can be stored in the fridge or freezer for up to 6 months. HTH.
