What are the advantages of co-washing vs. shampooing?

I think probably b/c co-washing is less harsh then shampoo, and b/c its conditioner, puts moisture into the hair

anyway, I plan on frequently co-washing as my hair seemingly grew quite abit in the months that I need, but being a 8months post transitioner I may have to think again :perplexed

:) I cowash everyother day and shampoo once a week. I also clarify twice a month on my shampoo days. The benefits for me of cowashing is that it leaves my hair moisturized. I massage my scalp and i just like to wash my hair. I use infusium 23 as a wet leave in every time I wash so my hair is balanced with the moisture and protein.

I shampoo once a week to clean my hair of prodcuts or whatever that the cowash wont take out. I clarify 2x a month to get rid of product buildup. HTH

I co-wash once a week and shampoo and deep condition once a week. I like to co-wash because as others have said, it leaves my hair moisturized. Plus I'm using Garnier Length and Strength conditioner, so it's making my hair longer, stronger, and getting rid of any split ends. Actually, on Monday I guess I faux-washed, lol, I washed with conditioner first, poured a small amount of the Garnier 2-in-1 shampoo + conditioner in my hand and washed my scalp, then rinsed and topped it off with more conditioner washing. When I fully shampoo though, I always deep condition afterwards anyway.

I co-wash weekly (or more frequently when I can) and shampoo twice a month. With co-washing my hair doesn't shrink into an unmanageable Brillo pad like it does with shampooing. Even when I get distracted and forget to 'do' my hair and it just air dries as is, it's fairly manageable. With shampooing, as it dries it's so brittle I get static. And it breaks off easily too.

Welcome newbie. I kinda new myself, I've learned that CO washes moisturize the hair which is especially needed in cold weather. Also co washes help to retain the moisture which is often lost in regular poos. I usually co 1x wk and pre-poo+poo every 2x wk. I also spray leave-in moisturizer every other day. I think now I have to begin exploring clari-poos and reconstructor conditioners. But for the most part since I've been doing co washes, I have seen a difference in my hair in regards to moisture and unsplit ends.
