have you guys given these products a try? they're very expensive (at least to me) and they are at every caucasian hair salon. (did a search, didn't find anything)

Here's my review on Matrix Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Balm:

I bought this mainly for the ceramides, and trust me, type 4 hair needs ceramides like no one's business to help with our moisture/protein balance. I bought the tub, and the product, is somewhat runny and is opaque white and somewhat thick. It also spread smoothly on my porous, coarse hair.

I left this on for an 1/2 an hour on freshly shampooed hair, after my month-old cornrow takedown, and my hair felt amazing! It felt soft, but firm.

This works best as a deep conditioner, however, please make sure to have a clarifyer as cermides tend to build up quickly on the scalp and hair. The first time I used this there was no build up the second time, I'm seeing a bit of buildup. A tiny bit more than usual. Nothing that my clarifyer can't cure.

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product. I always keep a ceramide product on hand, for my 4c hair!

Ingredients:
Water Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Cetyl Esters, Lanolin, Fragrance (Parfum), Methylparaben, Cetrimonium Chloride, Tricontanyl PVP, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) Fruit, Algae (Seaweed) Extract, Sage Leaf Extract (Salvia Officinalis), Pollen Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Extract, Saponaria Officinalis, Silk Amino Acid, Wheat Germ Oil, Wheat Germ Oil (Triticum Vulgare), Lemongrass
Pros:
*Sophisticated scent
*Goes on easily
*Creamy
*Ceramides
Cons:
*Can get expensive, It will take a good amount to saturate type 4 hair.

*Buildup, thanks to the ceramides

I think I also put this in the lhcf data base.

If I could update the review I did on sleek hair, I would say it went from a cottony feeling to satin-like feeling. I think it's because of ceramides and they really started to buildup on my hair and scalp.

The satin-like texture I had went away once I clarifyied. I'm still using ceramides and I can feel little by little the ceramide buildup and the satin-like texture is coming back.

Hoped that helped. I'll be doing a review for Matrix Biolage HydraTherapie Cera-Repair PRO. I'll add this to the database as well. The golden little lamb also has some reviews on Biolage as well.

I also love their Ultra hydrating balm. Excellent moisture DC and lots of slip, makes detangling very easy.

I like their daily leave in tonic and their heat therapy repair - it's amazing for those who use heat. It also has ceramides. When I started my hair journey I used there cera repair each week as well and loved it. Which reminds me I need some more:)

I just bought the Matrix Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Balm & shampoo friday during Ulta's Buy 2 get 1 free. I need something that will give my hair some slip and hydrate my thick 4b-c hair. So I will see what it does. Thanks 4 the review Yoshi. I also have the fortetherapie strengthing balm to try.

I have both the shampoo and hydrating balm for thick, coarse hair. I haven't used the shampoo in a while, but I have been using the hydrating balm and I love it...it's very moisturizing as a DC.

I want that UHB now!

The Conditioning Balm is one of my staple DCs, but I like the GVP version equally as well, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper. I stocked up at the Trade Secret after Christmas sale and got the gift sets with the large shampoo and tube of the Conditioning Balm for $10 each. I think I got 4 sets, and this far in the year I have used 2 tubes of the balm and one, maybe two, of the shampoos, I think.

I use Matrix Biolage HydraTherapie as my leave-in conditioner when I rollerset. I love it. I like the Biolage shampoo, too. But, today I tried Matrix Sleek (actually, it was Suave's version) and I love it! I think I like it more than the Biolage shampoo. Matrix makes such great products!

wow nice! No bad reviews, i'm loving it! Might give this a try afterall. The UHB sounds magnificent! thanks yall!

I bought the Hydratherapie and omg I love love love love this conditioner as DC. So much moisture its amazing! My hair is singing its praises right now.

the hydrating conditioning balm is out of this world it makes my hair soooo soft
i tried their shampoos and i didnt like it,my hair felt really stripped
i tried the leave-in and it made my hair super sticky

I switch between the Ultra Hydrating Balm and silk elements mega silk. excellent DC. Has anyone tried the sally's generic version of biolage? How does it compare?

I tried the conditioning balm, and I thought was okay. I really didn't like the waxy feeling it left. I would use this as a dc every once in a while! But nothing spectacular for me! It just weighed my curls down too much!

I have an un opened tube of the Ultra hydrating balm condish im going to use it after i finish up my pantene mask!

I just used the hydratherapie conditioning balm and I LOVE IT!! From what I've read on the Internet, the conditioning balm receives way more and better reviews than the ultra hydrating balm...I haven't tried the later personally.

I tried the ultra hydrating balm when I was transitioning and it did NOTHING for my hair. But after I saw these reviews I may try it again this weekend! I'll go under the steamer this time for better results. :drunk:
