I bought this stuff about a month ago and I honestly don't see any significant difference between it and other oil mixtures like Kemi or Hot 6.:ohwell: I'm wondering if I haven't been using it long enough or if I'm using it wrong. I use it on my hair when I set. I have a very dry scalp, so I also use a little one or twice a week to do a scalp massage. I don't dislike it, I'm just not sure what I should be expecting. So tell me, what has this stuff done for you?

The reason I like WGO over Kemi or Hot 6 is that it does not weigh my hair down. I can put it on my hair and it makes it shinny without looking greasey.

I do not like Kemi and I do use Hot 6 from time to time.

WGO is just a good oil blend for my hair especially when my hair damp it keeps it from getting frizzy.

Ok, I see that you use it on wet hair...it works best on wet hair.:yep:

What where you expecting it to do? There's only one thing that all hair types don't experience when using WGO. If you're looking for it to straighten and it's not they say that:
when you apply Wild Growth on damp towel-dry hair and comb or brush a few times till it becomes completely dry, then curly may turn to wavy and wavy may turn to straight. Coarser hair will not be affected.

What hair type do you have?

Same here. And I oil my scalp with it after I wash my hair. I airdry it in a bun and it comes out really smooth, straight, and soft. :)

I too like the fact that WGO isn't a heavy oil for my hair. I do get softer NG when I use it everyday. Now It's simply a part of my mixtures & I use it in my pre-relaxer/pre-poo treatment...
:)

It didn't do anything for me other than make my stomach sick from the smell. I didn't use it too long for just that reason. I kinda thought it was overhyped a bit, as well.

Just my opinion.

@tru-mind - I'm a relaxed 4b, more like 4c for course if that's possible:lol: . I wasn't expecting it to make my hair any straighter though. I don't wear my hair straight so even if that were one of the benefits for me I wouldn't know it.

What I was expecting was to be able to recognize exactly what effect it had, be it positive or negative. Right now I'm not noticing a difference from when I was using Kemi oyl in the same way. Maybe it'll just come down to which is most cost effective.:ohwell:

I got a touch up recently so maybe I need to wait and see how it handles my new growth to know if this is a keeper for me. Oh, and I don't think it smells bad, just "earthy."

Thanks for the responses ladies.

I used it for the first time back in 2002, it grew my hair like crazy. my growth slowed down so i mixed it with doo gro hair oil and suplhur and my growth rate took off. i stooped using it when i read that oils on scalps clogs follicles. I would defintely use this again, when i've finshed up the rest of my products.

You think the WGO contributed to your growth spurt? I'm one of those people that has trouble believing that anything applied topically can do that. I also read the ingredients and while its got some good stuff, I didn't see anything that would promote faster growth.

I did not love it when i first tried it, but I LOVE IT NOW bc when I mix it wtih my B&B Oil Moisturixer, the results are SOFT SOFT hair & my NEW GROWTH is tamed, tamed, tamed.

It contains inositol.

Thanks. I must've missed that. Or maybe I saw it and didn't think it would help. I just googled it to see if there were any studies showing that it's benefical if used topically. I'm still skeptical. I'm gonna keep using it though, as an oil it does okay. If I can get more growth from it that would definitely be a reason to repurchase.

Yes luvSlave, I think that you should wait and see how it handles you new growth too.

I used it during my transition, the 2nd time around, and I was able to cut off 2 inches of relaxed hair each month and new growth was a breeze. I finished my transition in 6/7 months.

I'm seriously thinking about switching back to WGO(I'm using Kemi-Oyl right now). WGO seems to help all the products that I use work so much better.

The only reason why I switched to Kemi is. because I'm still using heat right now and WGO smokes when used with heat. Are you experience this too?

And I don't think that it smells bad either.:) I always say that it smells natural/herbal. I mean what can you expect from a natural product?

yes i do believe it had contributed to my growth, at the time i wasn't looking after my hair, taking vitamins or washing/conditioning regularly and plus i was and still am a junk food addict lol, i was skeptical too but i decided to try it and it worked. i would use it again but only on my hair it helps to keep it soft and silky feeling.

I used it for my new growth when I started transitioning. After washing I would put some on my scalp and hair and it kept it moisturized. It also slowed down the breakage a bit too. It's gotten expensive now so after I'm done with this bottle, I might not buy anymore. If I do buy it, I'll mix it with another oil to stretch it out.

I don't use direct heat. I haven't noticed any smoke when I sit under my hard bonnet to dry my set. Are you using a blowdryer or flat iron? If so, maybe you've got it up too high.

Yes, I'll turn it down further.

Thanks!

It does smoke when used with a curling iron. I use it on dry hair. I'm telling you, my new growth is sooooo soft--but only when I mix it with my oil moisturizer. When I just wash my hair the new growth feels like a brillo pad. I think WGO is a worthwhile product: olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, iron, magnesium, calcium and inositol, ALL GOOD THINGS!

Didn't seem to increase growth. Made my roots manageable, and I was able to go longer without touch-ups. If I apply it to dry hair, it makes my hair sticky, so I use it mixed with EVOO and Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil for an overnight oil treatment.

I love wildgrowth oil. I have used it on natural, relaxed, and texturized hair....yes I have been all of the above.

I use it after spraying on a water based leave in product or I use it just to give my dry hair some shine. It makes my hair so soft and stretches out the curl a bit...I am currently half texturized half relaxed. When I put my hair in a pony tail the wild growth helps the two textures play nice with eachother.
