The directions say to use a few drops 1-3 times a week. Somehow I don't think that's enough to keep my hair moisturized sufficiently. Would there be any harm in using more oil than directed? Also, does anyone else experience a slight scalp tingling from use of this product
Hi melodee, I use wgo on my scalp like every other day (sometimes everyday) It just depend on how my scalp feel. I know my scalp is forever itching with this stuff. It's really the same stuff that we buy from the vitamin store to put in our bodies. So why not put it on our heads too. That's just how I see it. My hair has been growing thicker though. I try not to use too much because I don't like that greasy feeling I get.
I can't use WGO on my scalp because it gives me the itchies and irritation, but I do use it on the rest of my hair. I use more than a few drops (maybe a teaspoon worth?) on wet hair, and then use it sparingly a couple times during the week. But I also use other products for moisture too. I don't think WGO by itself is sufficient for moisture (personally). The only harm I see in using more oil, more frequently, is the scent of WGO.
I don't use it as directed. I apply at night under a shower cap and then rinse it out in the morning. That stuff is to smelly for use during the day for me. I don't get the itchies with it. I guess my daily rinses don't give it time to buildup.
I stopped using WGO on my scalp last month because I could not determine the growth itchies from the allergic reaction itchies so I stopped. I would rather smell like Glovers and not itch.
I just use it while air drying. And I always use more than the bottle says to use. I started using it after reading Carolyn Gray's ponytail drying method. It really does help straighten my hair when I air dry. I'm allergic to a lot of other things, but WGO doesn't make my scalp itch or tingle at all.
I don't use it on my scalp at all. I do use it on my hair ends though, and I definately use more than a few drops on my hair, I use about a dime's worth.
Now I've never used it to press with a hotcomb. I have used it during airdying. Just a dab. I then flat iron. It does come out nice and it is not oily after. I usually don't apply much to my hair before applying heat.
