:::Wet Wraps:::

I just tried the wet wrap tonite after washing my hair. I sprayed (literally saturated) my hair with Motions Nourish leave-in and parted my hair from ear to ear and proceeded to do what Cami did. It was so easy and does not take up a lot of time like a rollerset does. My hair started to feel silkier as I kept wrapping which was really cool! I have 4 weeks of newgrowth and my hair smoothed very well! I hope it turns out good in the morning.

AudraChanell,

Do you still do Wet Wraps??? If so, how do you get them to turn out really nice???

When I relaxed, I always wet wrap my hair. My friends called me the "master wrapper" because I could wrap a head before you could blink (when you do it ALL the time, the technique becomes second nature). A good lotion is the key. My favorites were Kera Care Wrap Foam and Jane Carter Solution Wrap and Roll. They have conditioners in them and soften and detangle the hair so that you can wrap wit ease.

Jane Carter Solution!!!! Yes, that stuff is da bomb. I have had all her stuff. She use to do my hair...back in the day, back at Breezin' Hair. I'm disappointed she moved her Salon in Plainfield...Ethinicare. I moved from NJ to VA in 97. I came back to visit this past Xmas, and planned to buy some stuff - hair butter, etc, but she was gone from there. I know I can order on line, but I was looking forward to seeing her and Claire. They da big tim' now!

so1913... have u ever tried wet wrapping on your natural hair???

I used to wet wrap my hair and it would come out straight and very full. The following day I would comb it down and add moisterizer and I was good to go.

My method is to place a roller (large) directly on top and wrap the rest. This keeps the top smooth. I haven't done it in a while since I have gotten better at roller setting and I go to the salon also.

I used a good leave in, WGO and biosilk to keep it from frizzing, but have not used a wrap lotion. I will try it with this the next time. I go to Dom Salon on Sat. and wash my own hair on Wed so I will be doing the wet wrap set then since I won't have time to let the rollers air dry.

I haven't wet wrapped in a like five years. It is usually a pain in the butt to dry your hair completely without sitting under a dryer for like two hours. I get the same results with a rollerset and dry wrap.

Has anyone been successful doing a wet wrap with lots of new growth? I did one last night.. haven't taken it down yet, but it was pretty easy to do since I just got a relaxer. This is my first time doing one b/c I'm trying to find new ways to dry my hair w/o blow drying. I can't rollerset for my life so I'm hoping this will be a good way to always dry my hair.

I used to do wet wraps if I did not feel like rollersetting my hair. My hair would come out straight and fuller too. Once I got a lot of new growth it would be harder to get the roots smooth but it still worked.

After it was dry (overnight) I would either moisturize and put in a bun or

Use steam rollers.

I wet wrap sometimes not all the times. i do especially if i had a relaxer 3 weeks after because the hair is stright so i lays right. I wash and condition and then i mix a good leavein with motions foaming wrap lotions then i wrap and wear a silk scarf. afetr 2 hrs or so i spray ors olive oil sheen spray
I get my hair wet wrapped all the time when I go to the salon. My stylist does a mixture of BBD Stretch and some other stuff (I trust her, so I don't pay much attention), and then wrap lotion. Works great! But I wouldn't try this crap at home; I'm not that good with my hair....

I did a couple of wet wraps on my hair, last relaxer May 2005. The only problem I had was to get my hair to lay down flat i would have to brush it.....and that's where the problem was

This is an old thread, but Im trying to find an alternative to rollersetting, because I just cant master it. And, I definitely dont want to blow-dry!! Is anyone still wet wrapping????

I TRIED it one and I will never do it again. It took too long to dry and it was heck trying to wrap my hair it kept getting all tangled...

I used to wet wrap immediately after I got a relaxer. I could only do it right after a relaxer, otherwise my hair would look a hot, poofy mess. Now, I just rollerset. I feel like my hair comes out better (bouncier, has more body) when I rollerset as opposed to wrapping.

I think wet wraps do have the ability to be damaging because of the amount of manipulation involved. But there's also a lot of manipulation in rollersetting, so I guess it depends on the person being gentle with the hair to minimize breakage.

I do wraps sometimes. I plan to do another one soon. My hair never gets bone straight but I like how it turns out. It does take some practice and a good detangler to be able to do it, especially for my hair since it's natural and long.

I wet wrap all the time. Well up until I have mad new growth. It helps me to keep the heat out of my hair because I like the straight look. So I just wash and put in a leave in and some moisturizer. Wrap from side to side like in the previous post. Sometimes I might do the one roller but very rare. Then I wear that over night and take it out in the morning and my hair is bouncy, straight, w/ a bump. I love it
