Somebody please tell me about this wet dry flatiron. My boss swears by this darn flatiron and her hair looks and feels really really soft. But isn't this not good for our hair???!?!? Mind you she's puerto rican with the curly when wet hair and nice and flowy lookin when flat ironed.

Don't use it. My understanding is that the heat of the flat iron on the wet strands will cause bubbles to form on the hair shaft. Bubbles that will eventually pop and lead to breakage.

I remember this from old post on this site, I'm no einstein.

ive always pressed my hair damp

so *shrugs* I dunno, they say its bad tho:look:

Although I wish I would have invented that iron cause I been doing this for years now

I second this from personal experience. I have one, adn i used to use it while my hair was wet (thank god not a lot) but my hair became porous and I was wondering why when i take such good care of it in my opinion and i di some research and sure enough flatironing your hair while wet was very high on the list of reasons for porous hair because it causes bubbles from boiling in the hair shaft and when they pop casues porosity

And I've used my (regular) Sedu flat iron on damp hair. ps. And I still have nice thick hair.

Okay that's what I was thinking but I wasn't quite sure.

.....and so how has your hair been holding up?

Okay. Thanks for this info.

I guess you're just blessed huh?!

flat irons that are meant to work on wet hair dont cause bubbles because it has vents or holes were the steam goes out. bubbles in hair is caused from regular flat irons that are meant to be used on dry hair.

I used one once and my hair came out great. The hair should be damp, not soaking wet. I was scared to do it again though.

My hair is doing just fine :yep:

It might be different with pressing than flat Ironing, I also agree that its for the Flat Irons that are designed to be used that way , I also agree with Hopeful that its best on damp hair

I actually find it easier to do a press on damp hair, and I actually find it incredibly more difficult to begin a press on dry hair, I dont do any blowdrying first so there is no pre heat styling to loosen it up first, so this works best for me
