Went ahead and did it

Girls , I know I said I would try for six month stretch but I couldn't do it. I went ahead and did my touch up. I really wanted to do the stretch but I am happy I did the touch up. I was getting a bit too much breakage and shedding. The breakage is under control and the shedding is minimal. I can't say that I recognize any growth in terms of length but my hair seems so much fuller than it did before I relaxed "at least my ponytails does".

I have made my own sulfur concoction using sulfur powder and a combination of olive, castor and some drops of rosemary, eucalyptus and lavendar oil and began using it on my scalp three times a week. I shall keep you posted on my growth progress. I am one of the slow growers so it should be easy to notice the difference when the growth starts showing since I just did the touch up.

Anyways, I plan to really go for the six month stretch this time around. In order to get through it, I will need to do a combination of weaves, box braids and cornrows in a rotation when the new growth get to about half inch. That should put me right through to December.

I am hoping to do my next touch up and the very end of the year so I can start fresh in January and really monitor my growth for 2006.

Wish my luck :).

I wish you the best, Growingitlong. How long were you able to stretch? I think using weaves and braids will get you through it.

Hi CandiceC

Thanks for the best wishes. I was only able to go almost 12 weeks. I missed my braid appointment and decided to go ahead and do the touch up.
I am happy with it as my hair seems much fuller than before although no obvious length progress.

I know what you mean, it's really hard to stretch that long. I'm at 19 weeks going to 24 which is about 6 months. You have to do whats best for your hair, I know if I experience a lot of shedding/breakage I would relax also. For me, the key is to keep the hair moisturized. Make sure you have a product that penetrates your hair and you should be fine. I have been using a shea butter moisturizer that keeps the new growth soft and easy to comb. Good luck on your next challenge, I'm rooting for you:grin: . Happy Growing!!!!!!!:)

Thanks for the ideas. Luvlonghair. I did try keeping the hair moisturized. I guess it was just time. But we will see how it goes for this upcoming challenge :).
