Hi All!

I felt so strongly about letting you all know about the fabulousness of this product that this is my first post!!!! If you like Wen products you have to try Bedani Organic Black Cocoa Butter Shampoo by Sakile (www.sakile.com). This shampoo is totally organic, it's handmade by a sista who is natural, and for the same 16 oz size...is $8 CHEAPER than Wen Conditioning Cleanser!!! I have been using it for about 6 months and couldn't be happier. It doesn't strip my hair of oils but leaves it feeling scalp-tingling clean. It has a nice sort of chocolate/peppermint scent that's not too overpowering. Here is the link:

Sounds delicious!:lick::lachen: No, seriously, what are the benefits of this product?
This is part of an article from naturallycurly.com by herbalist, Stephanie Rose Bird:
"Black cocoa butter is one of my newest obsessions. Most of you are probably familiar with the eggshell-colored cocoa butter that has been widely available for quite a while. Most of the ordinary cocoa butter that comes from Africa is processed before the seeds are allowed to germinate. With black cocoa butter, the cacao pods are germinated first, which produces a deep, espresso-colored butter that smells like roasted cocoa. As body butter, it truly lives up to the botanical name Theobroma cacao - “food of the gods.”

If you want to try something a little different in your skin-softening regimen. consider black cocoa butter because it is softer and more readily malleable than the cream-colored type. Black cocoa butter[2] is very easily absorbed by the skin,* and a nice addition to soaps, lip balms and body butters. It is useful as a hot oil treatment to condition the hair."

Here's the info from sakile.com about the shampoo:

"SA∙KI∙LÉ (sa kē lā) a place to find all natural and organic, handmade body care free of parabens, synthetic fragrance oils, FD&C colors, mineral oils, sodium laurel sulfates, or any other ingredient that causes harm to the body or the Earth.

Made with black cocoa butter and a melange of organic oils and butters, our Organic Black Cocoa Butter Shampoo cleanses full heads of locs, naturals, bantu knots, as well as processed hair and everything in between. We made it to cleanse thoroughly without stripping the hair or leaving a dull film. With scalp tingling peppermint and the sweet, chocolatey aroma of cocoa absolute, BEDANI is a store favorite!"

I will ask her and get back to you with more specifics about the ingredients. If it helps, I know from using it that it has a milky consistancy with just a slight lathering effect.

This sounds simply yummy!!! Thanks for posting :yep:

ETA: - Please post a review if anyone decides to try...I'm on the fence with Wen, the thing that is stoping me from tipping over is the price.

This products sounds fabulous! I think I may have to try it. I've tried Wen and wasn't to thrilled with it. But this one sounds more like what I love- being natural and alll...

Thanks for sharing with us!

How come you can't find the shampoo when you enter the site from the home page?

If we didn't have your link, we would not be able to find it!

Sounds delicious! :yep: I am a Wen lover and welcome any other products if they work for me. I'm still a PJ no matter what :look:

Some more reviews please!!!! Has anyone posted all the ingredients?

I'm a little confused by the bold..

What is the consistency of this if you can use it as a hot oil treatment? I thought it was a creamy cleanser like the Wen (non)shampoo. You can use it on your skin to moisturize or cleanse? I assume cleanse??

I just ordered the Bedani wash, I'll post a review after I give it a try. The ingredients are 100% natural.

I think the hot oil comment is about the black cocoa butter, not the hair wash treatment.

Yeah, a little confusing. I think she's in the process of re-designing her site...but from the homepage, click on the icon in the upper right corner titled "quick shop" and all her products are listed there.

The main ingredient in the shampoo is black cocoa butter, this is just an article about the benefits/uses of black cocoa butter. The shampoo itself is a conditioning cleanser with black cocoa butter among other things...I e-mailed Sakile's owner for the full ingredients list. Her e-mail address is [email protected] if anyone has any questions I'm sure she'd be happy to help!

Good morning ladies,

I got a response from my email to Karen re: the ingredients for the shampoo. Below is her response that I copied and pasted from the original email:

"BEDANI shampoo is made with the following: saponified, organic oils of coconut, olive, and jojoba, glycerin/vegetable gum extract, organic aloe vera, rosemary extract, kunzea, lavender, peppermint, sweet orange, tea tree, and ginger lily essential oils, cocoa absolute, and black cocoa butter and shea butter.

People like it because it doesn't strip the hair, and the black cocoa butter is very moisturizing, and it smells like cocoa with a hint of citrus and spice. Plus, it's all natural and we don't have any PEGs, fragrance, parabens, or anything that is difficult to pronounce. You can purchase it online at this link if you like http://shop.sakile.com/product.sc;jsessionid=92ABE4C1D5F3187689D4A1B9026C34A8.qscstrfrnt02?categoryId=1&productId=51 and if you have any further questions, please let me know.

Let me know your thoughts and until we connect again, have a powerful day.

Sounds really good

thanks sweetie
Oh, one correction, I have to wash my hair tonight because I forgot I have to run an errand this afternoon and I won't have time to wash and DC before I go. I'll have plenty of time this evening however. Sorry ladies just a few hours more. I received my package on Friday, so delivery was very fast to say it was blended after my order.
