Well, so much for that.

So, I look ugly with long hair. Exhibit A: this sew in. I look like 7 years younger. I'm 20. :look: I still wanna keep my hair thick and healthy, but now it's time for my to explore new styles. I want to grow out my hair to be healthy and blunt, but I'm thinking length is just not going to work unless I wear it in a bun for the rest of my life. I have a very round face and long hair does not support it. Any suggestions for better hair styles that I can have, without necessarily chopping my hair off? I'm thinking of rollersetting from now on but I'm not so sure. Any advice would be appreciated.

OR you can tell me how to lose weight in my face. :perplexed

Yes pictures pleaaasee..
I'm 21 and I look much younger with short hair..I don't care really. I wouldn't say young = ugly!
Have you tried wigs? You may have to cut them up a bit but it's a good way to play around with different styles without doing something totally permanent.

1. You're not ugly. Appreciate yourself and work what you've got!! :yep:
2. Maybe you could play around with different styles. I'm used to textured hair so I thought I looked strange when I decided to rock a new straight wig. I got so many complements. Sometimes how we see ourselves isn't how we're viewed by the rest of the world.... but you have to do what makes you comfortable. At one point I only wore 1b and 2 colored wigs. Now I experiment with various highlights and it's just.... fun. :giggle: Find a style that makes you happy and rock it! :yep:

Believe me, when you're older you'll be super thankful to have a young looking face. I've seen teenagers that look older than I do and I'm at least twice their age. :look:

Lol ok I'll post pics when I get home. I guess its not so much that looking young is ugly, its that for some reason long hair draws more attention to my baby cheeks and makes it look like I'm storing acorns for the winter. :look:

I'll definitely look into wigs before I do anything permanent, I don't wanna chop my hair and then regret it. I'm thinking if I grow my natural hair out I'll like my textured hair long better than I like straighter hair. Its just iffy because my sew in is only perhaps 2 inches longer than my natural hair and I don't like it. Eeeek.

I have a round face and at first I thought I couldn't wear long hair either until I found 2 things that helped me fiqure it out....

1) I found an article that basically said that when you have a round face and long hair, you need ta side part and a swoopy bang instead of a middle part. It also said that you might want to also sweep one side back (like behind your ear) to give your face a natural angle and that you also need long layers (not short ones) that start right around your mouth area.

-and-

2) Try using a virtual makeover site - I've been using a site called taaz.com for years now! There you can upload a picture of yourself (preferably with your hair back or under a wig cap) and then try out different hairstyles to see if they look good on you before you go through the trouble of getting it done!

I can't tell you how Taaz has saved me from some awful hair experiences (and makeup experiences)! The added benefit is that it also allow you to save your makeover pictures on your computer so that if you ever go to the hair salon, you can show it to them so that they know what you want!

I'm sure that if you do both of these things, you will be able to rock long hair without looking like you're in elementary school! LOL!

Hope some of this helps! Be well!

You look awesome! Your hair is GAWJUS! and you best not cut it...You say you don't want to cut it but I know where these post lead too .

No but seriously, You look good with longer hair. I honestly don't see what your talking about. Also I think flexi-rod sets, bantu knots or braidouts would suit your needs. They don't really show the true length of the hair, so this may be what your looking for.

HTH's:)

Exhibits A and B.... I like the way it feels to have long hair but not the way it's looking...

Don't quote

This thread is funny. Your face is oval shaped and not round, so the long hair works for you. There is no fatness to your face or cheeks. I think the look in the 1st picture suits you better than the pulled back hair in the second.

I think as you live with it for a while you will get used to it and see how the length actually flatters your face.

WHATTT?????

You had me writing all of that and your face is not EVEN round AND your hair looks beaaautiful?

Gurl, please! I am officially mad at you!

Nooooo don't be mad!!! I loved your advice and I'm definitely going to give that site a try today, plus the hair style tips when my real hair hits that length (I have extensions in that pic)

I agree you look nice with your hair down but I agree, you look older with your hair pulled up. What's wrong with buns?

Thanks I'm glad some else sees it. it just gets old, I've been wearing buns a lot and I have to wear them when I'm in uniform. So once I have free time it'd feel better to let my hair 'out' then just keep it in a bun for all eternity.

I came in here to post this before I saw your face. I was thinking you could show off the length in a way that frames your face nicely.

Having seen your pics, you look cute either way, but you do look more sophisticated to me when your hair is pulled back.

Like everyone else has said here, you are a lovely girl and you look great either way. You definitely do not have a round face (as a lady of larger proportions, trust me I know!) -- in fact, your pretty oval face and high cheekbones enable you to wear your hair at any length. And as for the long hair making you look younger, I don't see a problem with that at all, but then I'm in my 40s, so that works in my favor.

Think long and carefully before you decide to cut your hair, as that takes much longer to change back than just wearing your hair up in an updo, wig or short weave. You truly have more options than you think my dear (the side part advice is on point -- works like a charm for me! :yep:), so maybe you can go with that and see how you feel.

Do what's right for you, and happy hair journey whatever you decide.

1. Your face isn't round.

2. You're cute.

3. You're at the same level of attractiveness with long hair as you are with short hair.

4. How you hair enhances your look, either long or short, depends on how you style it.

Girl you crazy out of your mind you are gorgeous! (With both styles) It doesn't matter what you wear its the confidence you where it with.

you do not look seven years younger than you are, you just have what I like to call the eternal baby face. Very soft features, but it's not a bad thing. Now if you have a lot of shrinkage with your hair then there's no need to worry, simply don't flat iron it. If you're afraid of it getting long and and not looking as flattering then you can do the half-up half down style. It's my favorite style for my hair because my braid outs and twist outs just make me feel so blah now =/

Also having a layered look may make you look your age because it's more sheek.
I'm big on wearing wigs so they're helpful in seeing what I'd look like if I potentially styled my hair that way.

See, long hair + layered = more mature looking.

I am 19 btw

Sorry OP you're suffering from delusion (rolling eyes)

Not only is your face not very round. It's not round. :nono:
Your cheeks aren't remotely fat. They have a slight apple to them, which I hope they would at age twenty.:look:
You look better with your hair down in the pics posted. :yep:

I don't mean to sound harsh but OP just no. :perplexed

You might want to play around with blunt vs layered long looks to see which is more appealing.:drunk:

Don't stress just enjoy your hair.

Well a picture from my phone js a million times more different that what I look like in the mirror. I don't think I'm delusional, I see my face daily. If I laugh my cheeks look even bigger. I'm not crying wolf or cray cray but maybe I just see myself differently than others. Or maybe I didn't smile enough in my pics but I didn't wanna have an evil clown grin and scare people off the thread. :look:

Girrrl lmao, you look fine. You look very pretty with longer hair, you just aren't used to seeing it. Your cheeks look fine, you have pretty eyes, your hair looks pretty. Don't give up on long hair! :) you look great!
