I brought these rollers and was all amp like yeh, but once I looked at instructions my head started hurt and put down box... are we suppose to warm each one up indivually then apply to head at once or... man I dont know so just tell me how you did urs?

you do it one at a time, putting it on the steamer for 5-7 seconds then shaking off the excess water and bam youre good to go. you can also put the covers on the steamer too for a couple of seconds if you'd like

I think my biggest issue was how long to keep rollers on steamer before putting in hair, then when all rollers in hair do u take out depending on which one was put in first or you wait same amount of time for all then take rollers out...

Angel, I honestly don't remember what the directions say as far as the exact amount of time to leave the roller on the steamer. For me, it was kind of trial and error. I would say on average, maybe 45 seconds. You have a new steamer so it probably produces alot more steam than mine which I think is about 2 years old. Also, hair texture and how loose/tight of a curl you desire is a factor. If you want tighter curl, leaving the roller on longer, using a smaller roller.

Yes, I remove my rollers in the order I put them. Also, another thing I do sometimes is after I set my hair on caruso roller for a minute or two. I switch to a vented roller (like a velcro, mesh) so that more of my hair is exposed to air while I continue to get ready. This is to speed up the drying time if I'm in a hurry.

It came this afternoon and I am now sitting with the rollers in my hair. I got the ionic ones, and i followed the directions and left it on the steamer for 7 seconds. I'm going for a loose-ish sorta curl, but we'll see. I'll leave them on for 15 to 20 minutes. so I have like 12 minutes to go! YAY!

Let me know how it works, I plan on purchasing this after christmas.

I leave mine on the steamer for about 30 seconds. I usually don't count, I just set it on there and take it off when I feel like it. I also use smaller rollers in the front and sides and bigger ones in the back and the crown. I usually leave them in for at least 20 minutes. It's really simple. I can't wait to hear you all's results!

In agreement with Cincy! I usually use the medium and big rollers for my hair. I let them sit for maybe...20 seconds...shake the water off and quickly roll my hair and secure around the roller. After doing my whole head...I let them sit somewhere around 20 min and take out. For a cute curly look...I flip my head upside down and use my fingers to pull and wiggle the curls in a downward direction. Voila..throw on a headband or pin the sides with bobby pins right above the ear w/ a sway in the front...you definantly get compliments.:D

Y'all are getting me excited!!! I just bought mine yesterday and they are calling me from the top of the closet. :sekret: I'm trying to resist for at least another day or two, but I don't know if I can make it.

I can't wait to use them. Good luck with yours ladies! Can't wait to see those beautiful curls!

Keep in mind that this was my hair earlier today (I airdried and combed out). I put the Carusos in and my hair straightened out and looked good. Cant wait to try it on flat ironed hair.

According to the instructions on my Caruso system, we only need to leave the roller up to 10 seconds on the steamer hole. I've never left it longer than that. Then shake it out quickly, as was mentioned, and roll up the hair! The booklet that comes with it has all kinds of style tips. My old Caruso system had a booklet with instructions for natural black hair. I posted that info on this board a while back. BTW, I have a pic of spiral curls done last December with the Caruso in the photo gallery. :yep:

Do you fill the reservoir up with water, put the red thing on then plug it in? I just don't want to eletricute myself!!!

Yes, this is the way you do it. :yep: I remember that the thought of doing that seemed a bit unnerving the first time. Just be sure to keep the steamer intact when unplugging it and you will be safe. :)

note: My hair is even in length, but there were some curls hanging behind my back that should have been pushed to the front.

Golden, your curls look beautiful! I wish I could get my hands on an Ionic set for a few minutes to see how it works in comparison to the 'regular' version, which are all I've ever had. I'm very happy with mine, but I'm still curious.

I've had three regular sets so far. That's been over the course of more than 10 years, though. They do last for a long time. :)

This looks great, good job.
@ Starian- yeah you started it, I thought I was over the steam roller PJism I had in me, but I guess it's back and Caruso's here I come!!:)

Anjel, did you use them yet and do you like the results?

In case you or any other ladies here haven't tried them yet:

I know it may sound strange at first to roll each roller up and apply it to your hair one at a time, but you will find that they are very quick and easy to use. When I take one roller off the steamer, I put another one on immediately. That way, while I am rolling one section of hair, another roller is steaming. There is never any 'down' time, so I am able to roll my hair in less than ten minutes, then it only takes another 15 minutes to set. These rollers really are fantastic. :)

I used these rollers about three years ago. My hair looked fabulous and I received many compliments. However, my ends began to take a beating for some reason and appeared split. I started to use a profectiv product on my ends which seemed to help. Sometimes I would even use end papers. I would love to go back to using these rollers around Spring 2006.

Did anyone else experience problems with their ends due to these sponge rollers? If so, are there any recommendations to avoid the dry/split looking ends syndrome?

How have these rollers changed since I last used them? Someone posted about ionic. Please explain how these work or how the product has improved.

Thanks much.

I don't meant to call anyone out, but some of the sets look a little frizzy. I know that has to do with the steam, but is there anyway to do a caruso set without the frizz?

I bought the regular set last week and have been using them every morning without frizz. I guess I do not have frizz since I just got a relaxer and I also moisturize my hair at night. I love the caruso because at night I just leave my hair down and apply my satin cap. In the morning I apply the two largest size of rollers and while I am getting ready I let them work. It takes me about seven minutes to put them in. This is good for me because I am laying off of the curlers. Also since my ends are starting to touch my shoulders, I pin my hair up in an updo once I take the carusos out in order to avoid breakage and split ends. The result is very nice.

Hi Caramela,
For me, I would say (1) make sure the curl is completely dry before stlying or releasing the curl. (2) Also, the aid of silicone serum helps smooth the frizzies.

I don't think in general you are going to get the same sleek results you would with let's say roller setting or a curling iron, but a pretty good result.

Also, someone asked the question about the damaging effect of sponge rollers. To tell you the truth, I've been wondering the same thing. I might start to use paper ends just to be sure. The rollers are not on for very long and also you are infusing moisture into the hair via the steam, right? So, I'm not sure. I have noticed over the last several months since I'm using my caruso more regularly some of the sponges have started to wear out, and I've had to replace them.

I am going to use a heat protetcant before I set in these rollers... and Girl that is calling people out is just wrong... But, I was thinking say thing, although I do think the nice young lady who posted beautiful pics is natural, not that that takes away from anything

Well, I am assuming that you all are talking about me. I was pretty sure I put the disclaimer either here or in my album that I airdried my hair and it didnt come out good BUT my carusos came the same day and i was excited to try them. I thought that you all could tell from the pictures that the carusos straightened where they were placed... not frizzied it. So no, I do not believe that the steam was a detriment.

I wore my hair in a ponytail with the curls for two or three days. I washed them out yesterday. I didnt have an issue posting the picture of my unfinished frizzy doo but I guess I should only show finished styles of whatever to avoid the confusion.

i was wondering about the issue of heat... has anyone gotten burned or anything?
There is no heat. That's what I love about the Caruso. Yes, the rollers sit on the steam vent for a few seconds but what touches the hair is isn't heat. No heat protectant is necessary. It's the moisture from the rollers that is infused into the hair strands and evaporates quickly.

The only way one can get burned is to hold one's hand or fingers over that vent when steam is coming out!

Hey ladies, I swear by this thing, I use them every day. No damage whatsoever. I did a review in my album. Check it out.

SerenityBreeze, what do you do with your hair at night and how do you prepare your hair for the Carusos?
