Okay...so far I've heard of Aveda and Stiff Head...

But are there any other waxes or sticks that will keep that halo of naps and frizz and puff laid down at the edges when you have your hair flat ironed in 85 degree weather?

^^^^ Cuz this hairline mustache look...is not a good one.

Whoever bought all the Stiff Head out of the Sally's off of John R. across from Oakland Mall out here in Michigan... SHAME ON YOU.

And I just have a feeling it was a LHCF'er!

Mad Mud by BedHead. I just got it but I'm quite impressed already.

The second pic looks like I straightened but I didn't. I actually went to bed after taking the first pic (w/o a scarf) so it was tow-up this morning. I didn't even brush or comb the wax in. I just emulsified it in my hands and applied it to my temples and raked with my fingers. I'll take some pics to night. The high today is 100 and I'm gonna be painting all day.

I woulda bought some if they had some.

Isn't that brilliant shine water based? Will it revert?

Sareca I love the darkness of your hair! I love black hair. (love multi color hair, too though) lol

I have tried murrays...but it pulls my hair out.

I use Beewax sometimes. Works pretty good but you have to clarify when you wash and if you all of your hair you might have to was before you switch styles depending on what the style is.

^^^ I might have to try that.

Beeswax and Murrays rip my hair RIGHT out.

Are these sticks the same consistency?

Maybe I'd have to apply with a toothbrush or something instead of with my finger or right from the stick.

Is there a way we could get more pictures to show how the stuff works please?
I would hate to spend 20 dollars on bed head then find out my 4a/4b edges are gonna soak the stuff up and get back to frizzin out :nono::wallbash:

Someone told me Lets Jam (and Elasta QP glaze, and garnier fructis brillantine wax, and castor oil, and everything else) would work, I wasted my money because it had grease in it and my hair laid down all of 5 minutes.

isnt murrays just grease?
it holds?

would i be dripping or greasy looking if i used it??

Hairveda Almond Glaze is the only pomade I've found that doesn't eventually break my hair around the edges. It lays my hair down and moisturizes at the same time. Great product and smells heavenly!!!:drunk:

its an old school pomade. my mom used to use it on my edges when i was little. it laid down and made beautiful waves!!!

ooh, I just bought murrays beeswax and everyone was like THATS FOR DREADs :lachen:lol but it actually laid my edges down OK, my hair hasnt fallen out yet so I think Im fine for now.

Does anyone know if the stuff works better if put on while your hair is wet? i used it dry and my 4b edges kind of soaked it up after a while:lick:

I use a great pomade on my edges called Prive. It has great ingredients (one of the main ingredients is castor oil) and smells great. It's very soft and leaves the hair moisturized in those areas and not stiff. It does not dry on the hair so it does not dry the hair out. It cost about 22 dollars but you will have that little jar for a long time. It works so well and only takes a little. It works better than any gel or pomade I've ever used on my hair.

Here's a link. I buy from here:

Hollywood Carrot Oil Cream works like a charm for me. I keep going back, and it's only 2.99 for a large jar.

I bought the Stiff Head yesterday :D

The carrot oil has moisture...reversion.

Plus...It always seems to kinda get a weird consistency after a couple days.

I LOVE that stuff...for when I'm just wearing wigs...but not when my actual hair is visible.

I'm not quite sure of the names, but Elasta QP makes a clear glaze & Sebastian molding mud may do the trick. Also a friend of mine told me, if you want the wet look with out the stiffness try Sebastian Wet. (Just thought I'd throw that in.

The EQP Glaze will make your hair revert.

TIGI BedHead Hair Stick for Cool People. Works like a charm. :yep:

This irritates my scalp like no other, I get flakes and build up after one use. However it does work, my edges were laid down looking lovely. Ineed to check the ingredients to see what might be causing the reaction.

My stylist intoduced me to Vonte Silk Effects and this stuff is amazing! She uses it on my edges as soon as she's done flatironing me and as long as I tie my hair down at night I can get a good week of decent looking flatironed edges, and it's not ridiculously expensive...check it out:

The hold is decent on wet to airdried hair, but for me it works best on keeping flatironed edges from reverting.

I'm gonna have to take some pics of my edges later cuz they have laid down all day and lasted through a mid-day face washing.

:D

Stiff Head is gonna make me marry it!
