I got it done today and I L-O-V-E it!!! I know there's another member who's having this done within the next couple of days as well (can't remember who) and I'm sure she'll have a lot to say too. But I just wanted to let y'all know that my hair turned out great.

Before, I was natural, (4a, I guess) and now my hair still looks natural but with a lot more curl definition. It looks like a spring curl or picture the spring in a writing pen, only looser. The stylist is going to run the texturizer through my hair again in 2 months or so to loosen it some more so that it will hang even more. The stylist also has the wash and wear in her hair and it resemebled that of Cree Summer's (the actress).

Anyway, I just wanted to let you ladies know.

. I would love to see some pics of b4 and after. I thought about getting this relaxer, but I hadnt heard of anyone in my area that do them.
Do you have-ta be natural b4 you can get this?

Contrats! I'm glad you're happy with your results. It's always exciting when a new hairstyle actually turns out as expected or better.

I'm not familiar with "wash and wear." Is this something I can buy and do myself?

I am so glad it turned out well!!!

Where did you get it done?? I am supposed to be getting it done myself in a week and a half. I can't wait.

Thank you ladies!

sweettrini, I believe it was you who said you were having it done in a previous post, but I couldn't remember your name. Well, I had a stylist in Chicago do my hair. She studied under the owner from Jazma. Also, be sure to post your results b/c I can't wait to hear how your hair turns out!

Press, "wash and wear" is basically a texturizer, however, it is applied differently. My hair was cleaned first, and they use Kerasoft products. I must say that my hair feels good and healthy. Of course it's new, so I'll be sure to post how it holds up over time (the pros and cons). Also, if you specifically want to use Jazma's products, I believe you need to order their tape before they'll allow you to order any of their chemicals.

Honey, If you call Jazma (their number's on their site) you can ask them if there's anybody in your area who does this. That's how I found my stylist. And of course there are many women on this site who use other relaxers to texturize and they've had great results. Also, I'm not sure if you have to be natural before applying this. You may just be able to apply to the new growth if you're growing out your relaxer. But please, don't quote me on that.

lillian and army, thank you so much. But no, I don't have any pics, sorry. I'll see if I can post a good comparison pic of my hair b4 and after.

What do you mean, it was cleaned first? Was it washed? And did the chemical burn after?

To all those wondering, here's a link to the thread that detail's another LHCF experience with the Wash and Wear and how it was applied. I think I may try this. I called Jazma, and there is no one in Florida who can do this, i.e, no "professional" stylists have taken the training. So, I'm probably going to buy the video and get the products and do this myself. Right after I find out if it's lye or no-lye. I just can't imagine that this stuff doesn't burn a freshly washed scalp. I can't even exercise prior to a relaxer without getting burned.
Wash and Wear application

Thank you ladies!

rush, if you're interested in the stylist's info, pm me, and I'll send it to you (I'd rather not post her phone number). But she's in the Oak Park area.

GMMP, my hair was sprayed with something that cleanses it of any impurities (it had a citrus scent to it). I believe some stylists also wash the hair before applying the relaxer. It's an off the scalp application, although I know some of it does touch (also the heat from you head can cause the relaxer to draw towards it). But there was absolutely no burning, tingling, or anything. It was left on for about 5 minutes or so, then rinsed. She also re-applied to my front so that it would curl a little more (being that there are different textures throughout my hair, she made sure to apply the relaxer according to what each spot called for). And like I said before, she will re-apply again in 2 months so that it will hang a little more.

Also, yes, I can wear it straight (although I haven't tried it yet and I'm staying away flat irons). I'm sure I'll try a blow-out in the future so I'll let you know how it turns out.

HTH!

Hi ladieluv, Hi sweetrini,
I'm so happy to hear a hair success story, but I'm curious about how this new texturizer has been doing on your hair. I hope you don't mind I have a couple of questions.
Is your hair dryer than before? Have you had to change your haircare regime/products?
Were you natural/transitioning/relaxed before?
How long is your wash and go styling time vs. blow drying straight before having it done and now?
Are the results similar to using heavy curl defining products?
How much less is the shrinkage now?
How often are you going for touch-ups? Thanks in advance.

Sweettrini, what up girl? I spoke to Shavon the other day and I was very impressed with him. Thanks for your help and tip and I am going to him this saturday to have a consultation. I did mention your name and he said oh yes I remember her the nice Trini girl! Wish me luck and I can't wait to see your results.

I am so happy for you girl! Happy growing! Please, do keep us updated on your progress. I am planning on getting it done myself in about a month or so. I had a question, can you do braids in your hair if it is texturized, I know this my sound silly but u can never be too sure. I like to switch up my style options alot.

I'm glad you like your new texturizer, it sounds really nice! I read about the wash and wear last year and was very impressed but couldn't find that much information. Definitely keep us posted.

Alli,

Glad to be of help. I was supposed to be seeing him this Saturday morning also to have the process done but I have to put it off to next Saturday

Hope your consult goes well. Please do post how it went.

Thank you everybody!

Alli, yes, you can get your hair braided with the wash and wear. And please be sure to let us know when you have it done. I'd love to hear about your results.

And of course I'll keep y'all posted with everything!

cool...I think that maybe if enough people get texturizers, we should start a texturizer/braid challenge to see how much lenght we can all get in 365 days! It might be fun.

Lucia, I'm don't know how I could've overlooked your questions. Sorry girl. But to answer you...

1- My hair was always brittle/dry and it still is if I don't use the recommended products. Jazma (who does the "wash and wear") has their own product line that I use as well as some other products that I used before. I can't say that it's necessarily dryer than before but if I notice a change, I'll let you know. I don't have a definite regimine yet b/c this is still new to me so I'm still feeling out what my hair reacts best to.

I was natural before, maybe 4a, about 9 inches (root to end).

I never blow dried before, so it's hard to tell. Even now, I find myself doing the bantu/china knot 'do. Now, when the stylist blow dried my hair, it came out really nice and it took maybe 10-15 minutes to dry (she used a hand held dryer w/a diffuser).

The results are different than using other curl products b/c my curls are more defined now and they hold much better.

I do have less shrinkage, although, I'm having the relaxer pulled through my hair once more for more length.

Also, I just got it done, so no touch-ups as of yet. I do plan on going back in 2 months to have it run through again.

HTH!
