Do you remember the technique your beautician blow dried your hair before straightening it? If so...

Guide me to youtube examples or simple step by explanations demontrating this.

I really need to know how to loosen the curl pattern on thick, coily, compact hair using a blow dryer so that I can straighten it with a ceramic flat iron.

Thank you ladies....

Definitely use a comb attachment. The blow dryer matters too. My stylist uses a twin turbo 2600 blow dryer with a 'yellow bird' pic attachment.

In my personal opinion if you want to get the best results use a blow dryer with a boar bristle brush and a good lite heat protectant creme ESPECIALLY if you have natural hair.

I own a sedu flat iron and sedu professional blow dyer (the black one) I am able to make natural 4 a/b hair look like it just got a fresh relaxer. I do this to my cousin every two weeks so she can manage her new growth. I also do this to my own hair maybe once a month to see my growth but mostly in the front b/c I can't get the back. But when I do the front it has alot of body and shine.

The pik attachment works well if you have relaxed hair but I think overall especially with natural hair that using a boar bristle brush helps to straighten and smooth it out.But I guess since you're doing it yourself that a pick would be better b/c a round brush probably isn't something you could use on your self especially in teh back.

Isn't the boar bristle hazardous to delicate 4b hair and are you referring to the paddle brush boar bristle?

I agree. I'm not natural but I could never use a round boar bristle brush to blow dry my hair, I would end up needing to cut it out because it would get so tangled.

I use a black denman brush and my Babyliss Pro dryer. A round boar bristle brush gets great results but also pulls out your hair. The denman doesn't. I got that tip from my beautician (the infamous Daneen in Chicago). A professional blow dryer also makes a difference.

I haven't found it to be hazardous as long as I detangled beforehand but that has been my personal experience. It might work for some might NOT work for others. Just a suggestion. .

But I guess tangling probably would occur if you were to do it yourslef. But when I do it on myself and others I don't have problems, you just have to make sure you detangle, power dry (to where its a little damp), and don't take sections that are bigger than the brush.
