I did the April Fools Stretch and made it successfully to 16 weeks. I am now at the 20 week mark and said I would go on to 24 weeks if I was still able to manage my hair. I have been doing a version of sylver's scarf method but just doing one big braid in the back instead of rolling and then bunning the braid or doing a cute pin-up. When I shampoo, the detangling isn't that bad (with the help of s-curl).

I want to straighten it out before my T/U to see how much NG, b/c I did get a little trimmed off during this time, but I don't think i will until my T/U.

I am going to go for another 4 weeks, which will make it 6 months, but I will be sad when I relax b/c I actually like running my hands through my NG and feeling it!!!! Am I weird or anybody else have this feeling???

You are not alone. I can only go 3-4 months without relaxing because my hair starts to break off. I LOVE  my new growth. There is something very unique about it. It is strong and textured and just lovely!!!! The waves and coils....I can't say enough about them. I also love the way my hair feels when it is relaxed.

I just can't handle the breakage if I go past 3-4 months and I like the versatility of relaxers. I went natural before and it just was too hard, I am a 4-B and my hair on wash days was soooo hard to detangle, comb, style etc no matter what I used.

Girl you are not alone. I am now 8 weeks post and trying to stretch to 16-20 weeks and I am absolutely loving my new growth. The last time I relaxed I couldn't wait for the new growth to start to come back in. I know when I finally relax i definitely will not relax bone staight again. Thanks LHCF for teaching me how to take car e of my hair while stretching thus allowing me to love and appreciate my new growth:D

I :kissing4:  my new growth!!!!

Love it, love it, love it!!!

My last stretch was 15 weeks...and for the last 2 weeks, after I took out my braids, I couldn't keep my hands out of my hair. In fact I had to keep washing my hands at work because I was really lubing up the new growth to keep it soft.

I'm so obsessed with it, I sometimes pull out 1 strand from the root and stare at it on my desk at work:eek: . I'm a little nuts!

Anyway you're not alone.

Yeah, while I am loving the coils and NG right now, I already know that I am going to have the "Hand in Hair Disease" when I get my relaxer:grin: because my hair feels like silk. I usually get a rollerset any other time I go to the salon but to stretch it all the way out and to be able to judge exactly how much new growth, I will probably get it blow dried and flat ironed w/the ceramic flat iron (which contributes to that "silky" feel).

den1,
Didn't you recently relax? So you are loving it huh!!!??? That was part of the reason I was probably able to stretch so long b/c it was getting easier and easier and even though I thought about transitioning, I think I like my hair straight more often than I do curly and if it is relaxed, I can easily achieve the "straight" look by doing a rollerset then wrapping, whereas if it's natural, I would have to do too much (heat, etc.) to get a straight look. Am I making sense or not?

Anyway, I am in the process of putting some 20 week post pics in my album that show my style I have been wearing.......

I feel ya chica! This is the reason why it's been a year+ since I've put any chemicals in my hair! I just love the look and feel of my type 4a hair!

I feel the same way, lol, I have been seriously thinking about transitioning lately but, I like wearing my hair straight too often to go back to my roots right now. I sit for hours just messing in my NG, but I will be happy on TU day. It also take's intirely too long to style my hair w/this NG and it gives me memories of when I was totally natural, it took forever to style. :look:
