Wait a minute is that my electric bill? Question about Dryers.

Ok ladies I have been looking forwad to the winter time since summer. This is when my electric goes down down down. I have been using my hooded dryer a lot and my electric bill is almost 300. When just last month when I wasn't using it the bil was like 60. Do your dryer effect you electric bills? Could this be a mistake?

Wow. I can't see a bill being that high from using a dryer. Do you leave it on for 24 hours?
Sounds like a mistake.

I can't imagine that using your hairdryer could cause your bill to be that high. Hope you find out what's going on with your bill.

I do know that dryers use more wattage but I wouldn't think it'd make that much of a difference. What dryer do you use?

Sounds as if you received an estimated bill. When was the last time you had your meter read?

I agree with everyone else. There is no way your bill should be that much higher just from using the dryer. Hope you get it sorted out.

Ok Ladies thanks for the comments. I will be calling the electric company in a few minutes. I know last month I used the hooded dryer probably a total of 1 hour just for dcing. There must be a mistake. I don't know about having the meter read. I though they just come out and do that.

yes, make sure you dont have anyone swiping your electricty...i had to have that checked in my old apt...turns out i was wrong..
but dang nabbit..i say check anyways..ya never know!

How can you tell if someone is swiping your electric? I had them to send out another meter reader. This has got to be a mistake. That's 3 times as much usage as last month.

This happens to us a lot. We once received an estimated bill for around 300 dollars b/c our meter had not been read in months. we had out meter checked and didn't have to pay so definitely get a meter reading.

Houston Ladies, check out your bills b/c after the Hurricane a lot of people are getting higher bills and its not b/c of your dryer. Dispute your bill and have your meter re-read.

When I lived in the old apartment I saw the meter maid tampering with the boxes. I called and complained because I knew where, when, and how to read my meter. How bout our bill went from 250+ down to 30 bucks for over a year.

Definitely check that out.

oh wow, that is awful. How did she do that and how long was she getting away with it? What is a meter maid btw; don't they work for the water or Electric company in whatever city. I mean, what would they get from tampering with you meter personally?

Ok ladies are yall taking in that we didnt have lights for a while in Sept that why our bill was cheaper for Oct that we had to pay. I am unsure how long yall was out of light but I didnt have any for 2 weeks, and our bill was $100 and jumped up to like $250 this month. My mom is made as heck cause we havent ran the A/C for like a month and we dnt know why its $250, she said she is going to start reading her own damn meter lol.....
