Vixen Crochet Braids: Is It Really A Ps??

i plan on getting vixen crochets but I worry about the amount of leave out need for a complete 'vixen' style. Like, can I do a partial vixen with just two sections (left/right) instead of four quadrants?

Also, what type of hair works best with 4abc hair?
