Vitamins/Supplements/Pills and Times Per Day

When one of the above says take x, x times per day.. is that because of absorption? I take so many pills nowadays that to remember I put them in a baggy and take them all at one time. But now I am thinking that maybe I should not do that and take them like recommended. It just got to be too much; my blackberry had 6 different reminders of when to take what.

I do usually take them with food.

Everyone weigh in on what you think. Especially you science types... :grin:
 
I take a few supplements myself. Through trial and error I figured out that certain pills are better taken at certain times of the day to produce optimal results.

Ex. MSM if taken at night WILL produce a restless nights sleep with possible halucination and "active" dreaming. I'm tired when I wake up in the morning. So I started taking my MSM pill as early in the day with OJ to help absorption....and wala,no more crazy dreaming.

That's just one example. I think that the individual has to figure out 1. If these supplements are necessary for their individual body and 2. Where exactly in a 24 hr period a particular supplement will do the most good.

I split my pills up. I take a few with every meal unless its something that needs to be taken on an empty stomach like single formed amino acids and some calcium supplements.

I take my essential oils whenever I have meals with more fat like with lunch if I am eating salad with salad dressing.

I split my multi-mineral up throughout the day and I take my multi once a day only because I switched to a new one a day formula. I used to take one that needed to be taken 2-3 times a day so when I take ones like that, I just take one with each meal.

I try to take the bulk of my b-vitamins and biotin at night before bed.

It's the vitamin C in the OJ that helps with absorption. You can take it with something else with Vitamin C in it OR you can take a Vitamin C supplement.



I break mine up too.

I take my Bcomplex, Zinc, and Biotin at night.


I take my iron and Vitamin C in the day.

I might add a multi into the rotation and if so, it'll be in the day with the iron and Vitamin C.
 
Anyone else have any input? Just trying to figure this out and come up with a routine that works. :)
 
Since I workout and lift weights, I usually take the following at 4:30 am when I get up to go to the gym:

2 tall glasses of water first!
Liquid Protein
Protein Shake - Muscle Provider by Beverly Int'l.

When I come home from the gym to get ready for work, I take

Vitamin B Complex (2)
My hair vitamins
Glutamine and Creatine.

Then I eat. I take another couple of teaspoons of my liquid protein (I keep a bottle at work).

I think it depends on your lifestyle, and since I spend a lot of time at my second home (Gym), this works for me.

At night, I take my zinc, biotin and my protein shake. Prior to this, I drink tons of water.
 
I take MSM, biotin, Omega 3-6-9, multi, and vitamin C everyday with breakfast. For my lifestyle, I take all of them at once. It helps me because I don't have to carry them around.

I am not sure that this is the proper thing to do but I haven't had any adverse affect from it. I wasn't taking enough MSM though. I just upped my dosage to 2 pills per day.
 
I dunno y I do it. :lachen: I read somewhere on this board that some people do this because it's supposedly better. So I just do it too. :lachen:
