Has anyone had any bad effects from this relaxer? I did a search and there seems to be a lot of good comments. I just wanna make sure that this is a pretty decent relaxer. I have to order this online and I don't have buyers remorse when the product comes. So if any one has used this relaxer, could you let me know how you liked it? Thanks. Oh, by the way, my hair type is 4b and I was going to get the regular life and body formula.

Thanks Baileys :)

Yes, I love this brand, but there is a caveat...

I don't like the Mo Body formula that most stores carry in the brownish-beigish jar. It seemed to irritate my scalp, unlike the original formulation in the white jar. I tend to see the Mo Body line at most Sallys stores, but if you have a BSS in your neighborhood, they generally will stock the original.

When I talked to the rep at Sally, she said the MO Body is the same as the old one, only the packaging changed. I beg to differ. If for some reason you can't find the white label one and you decide to try the Mo Body one, be sure to base well!

Vitale user checkin in!!!! Right here! Hi! me! \
Ok Ok. I love vitale. It seems to relax my hair at a good rate, meaning that if I leave it in for a short while I will get curls if I leave it in longer I will get waves. They have a really good prerelaxing conditioner that protects against overprocessing. Basically, this is the best, and only perm that I will use. I have always have good results. I got burned once but that was because of the person who was applying it. For some reason she applied it like you apply hair grease---on the scalp!!! I should have spoken up but I didnt'. That was two years ago. Now I perm my own hair. If you have any questions about vitale ask me. I have been using it now since 2001. I don't use anyother type of perm. If I can't get to a place that sells Vitale, I will wait and go to a place that does.....

Thanks for all that replied. I am so... excited. I have been searching for a long time for a lye relaxer that wouldn't break my pockets. I haven't ordered it yet but I will keep yall posted when I do.

Ok, now Taij I am definitely going to try this out now after your review and Southerngirl's. Thanks ladies. I bought the Neutralizing shampoo and Revive positive conditioner yesterday (I'm getting prepared). I've looking for something for a while now, and this fits the bill. I am so excited. I'll probably stretch my touch-up for a few more weeks (I'm now at week 10:) ) then I'll try it.

Vitale used to have a really good minty type conditioner in a tub that I tried a few years back. Ok, I just did a search and found the name, it's the Intensive treatment conditioner, I really liked it while the tub lasted. this is the only product I've tried in their line.

I found their main website online. It lists all the main products and tells you what they do. Nice.:)

I used it when I first self relaxed. The third time i self relaxed, I still couldn't get my hair as straight as I wanted (not bone straight, just straight when wet). Even after leaving it on for over 30 minutes with smoothing time and everything, my hair still didn't get straight. I used super.

This is a good relaxer if you are looking for something gentle. It contains aloe vera as one of the last ingredients, right behind lye, I believe. I like the fact that it doesn't have a strong "permy" smell. I also like the consistency.

I can honestly say that my underprocessed, rollercoaster looking hair relaxed by the Vitale feels really good!

I love Vitale Life and Body relaxer and some of their other products. My hair comes out so lovely with this relaxer. I've been using it since january of last year.

Hey Girl,

I didn't know you used this? That's funny, we use a lot of the same stuff!! I love your hair, so I'm in good company :)

My hairtype is 6f

TuffCOOKIE: After relaxing all my new growth a first time, then relaxing the back section the next time, then relaxing the front section the last time, I am finished the relaxer. I am unsure that I will buy it again but I am too scared to try another brand. This is what the nearest Sally's told me:

"Well, most people buy what is on sale. They don't care about the ingredients or the order of the ingredients. The most popular brand is TCB because it is the cheapest, followed by Revlon Realistic because it is always on sale. Our particular store [location] doesn't carry Vitale." She was really amazed at how concerned I was about what products I put in my hair :yep:

Anyhoo, I still reccommend it, even though it didn't get straight all the way after leaving it on for over 30 minutes.

My ex-beautician used the vitale with aloe relaxer on my hair for years. I asked her if it was lye or no-lye and she basically danced around my question (which is one of the many reasons she is now my EX-beautician:mad: ). Is is no-lye? I think so.

There are lye and no-lye formulas of this product.
