Well today I moisturized my hair as usual and everything was good that is until i took down my bantu knots. Now when I usually take them out my hair is normal and nothing comes out or anything. But today I saw a lot of hair... a whole lot of hair. I didn't count the hairs but i'm pretty sure it's more than I would shed in two weeks. So then I cried because i was scared. I didn't know what to do afterwards so i hopped in the shower and did a conditioner wash. After I detangled my hair and moisturized and put it in four little buns. Now i'm not sure what to do now. It's still in the buns and i'm not taking it down! I really need to know what to do. I need my hair trimmed but thats nothing major.
Was all the hair from transitioning?!?
Thanks in advance

Could it be seasonal shedding?
Do you ever get that? Or have you been using new products. I know when I use a lot of new products on my hair it has a fit and starts shedding.... not so good for a PJ <giggles>.

I know that feeling all too well.

I've been told that transitioners experience more breakage than usual.

Yup, I know I have. Usually when that happens I need a protein & deep conditioning treatment since I don't do them everyweek.

soanxious, how long have you been transistioning? I'm transitioning too, and I also lose more hair than I used too, particularly if my airdry doesn't go perfectly--If I don't do it juuuuust right, my ends seem too dry and I get breakage

You did the same thing I would have done--moisturize and put it up to protect it as much as possible. Try not to panic. Just wait and see if your hair has recovered. Sometimes I lose more hair than other times. This may just be one of your "bad" times

well i guess some of it came out from the root. I used 2 new products Motions CPR and Indian Hemp. The Indian Hemp did not work out in my hair. But now my hair is better not as much hair but i'm still scared so i'm going to wash it and deep condition it and moisturize my hair with mango butter and olive oil. I know that stuff works.
I do have seasonal shedding but it's mostly near the end of the winter/beginning of spring.
I've been transitioning for about 6 months.
