Using the Keratin Treatment to transition?

I'm not sure if this question has been asked or not. I couldn't find it in the search. But anyways...

I want to transition at some point in my life, but as of right now length is more important to me. During my stretches, I can handle the two textures in my hair just fine. But I have two problems that always pushes me to relax: 1) Although I can get my roots pretty straight, I still have shrinkage 2) I live in Florida so my roots start looking ratched in the front with any hint of humidity or wetness :ohwell:

So I was thinking, is it possible to use the Keratin Treatment to help with transitioning? I would rather do that than permanently straighten my hair each time. All input is welcome!

I'd like an answer to this question as well. I reason that if keratin is supposed to strengthen and protect the bonds of the hair shaft, then it could conceivably also help the relaxed part of the hair stay strong and healthy.

I'm thinking about transitioning myself, so it'd be nice to get some feedback on this.
