I am typing this with a mixture of sour cream/Elasta QP DPR-11/Aussie Moist 3 Min. DC even though I stopped using cones months ago.

Have you tried using certain ingredients after nixing them from your reggie?

How did it work for you?

If you decided to stop using an ingredient again:

How long did it take your hair to "get over it?"

What did you use to get you hair back to normal?

I have so many cone products just laying around from my expirementing days and I am hoping that I can save myself some money by using them up over the next couple of weeks. I have heard some members say that they were able to work some things back in when they knew how to use them better, but I am afraid of messing up a good thing.

BTW: I used a protein conditioner with cones as my post relaxer/pre neutralizing step and my hair loved it. Wish me luck.

I tried to use this Organix conditioner after I cut out all synthetic/unnatural products. My hair felt HORRIBLE. I was like forget this, and threw the bottle away. I even used some Aubrey's GPB, which was fine, but I knew I didn't want to use those types of products anymore, so I gave it away.

I have no problem throwing away things I don't like if I know they can't be of use to anyone else. Otherwise, I'll give them to friends who I know are less picky about their hair care.

MSA, So did your hair feel normal again after the next wash? Did you have to do anything special to make it alright?

^^^Nope it did not. I think the Organix has cones in it. My hair felt hard and dry. I was like, why is it that so many people like this conditioner? Anyway, I had to do a couple washes with castile soap to get rid of the feeling. I was so happy to have my hair back.

What she said - again.... I had to DC with my condish to get rid that - awful feeling.

Samantha, what about when you straighten your hair? How is your hair after using a heat protectant with cones?

Update:

I rinsed the sour cream dc out this morning and decided that I should poo to be proactive about the cone build up. So I poo'd with a baby shampoo and body wash foam I got at the dollar store letting it sit on my roots for a few minutes before spreading it over my hair and then added the rest of my Suave Humectress and Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine on top of that. I detangled with my denman under the showerhead as I rinsed. At first it felt soft, then started to feel pretty stripped so I cowashed with an off brand conditioner with cones/protein that I used after my relaxer touchup.

I rinsed the conditioner out and then did an ACV/Molasses rinse. My hair looked like it always does but didn't feel soft like it usually does. I squeezed some of the water out of my hair with my hands and then with a towel. It started to dry incredibly fast and started to feel a little softer. I moisturized with the Elasta QP Mango Butter sample I have. Again my hair felt softer as it dried than when still wet. Usually my hair is the other way around.

So I airdried in record time then I used some Garnier Sleek n Shine Leave In Conditioning Cream (stretched with AVJ cause I only had about 2 oz.) This made my hair foamy like AVJ/AVG or Curl Activator alone usually makes my hair feel and look. Then I finger combed some Garnier Fiber Gum Putty all over. I had also mixed this with AVJ to stretch it. This finally gave me some slip and my hair finally felt yummy. While I was cleaning up, I remembered that I had some Fantasia IC Hair Polisher and that some ladies had had some success using cones for curl definition and less frizz so I used the one I have for color treated hair. After using about half the 1.75 oz tube I saw the instruction said to use about 6 drops :ohwell: Hope my hair won't be sticky or crunchy!

I will post pics when it is dry
