Upping your protein with WEN?

I'll admit, I didn't watch the vid... but I did experience some breakage when I first started using Wen, back before the board. The problem was, as you said, too much moisture. It felt lovely before it started breaking off, though. :look::lol: I stopped the breakage with a light protein reconstructor (Aphogee 2 min. then, Joico now), but I ain't giving up my Wen!

(I was relaxed bone straight at the time, over-processed with already fine hair :nono:)

So is it suggested to use the Wen to wash and condition and hen use the 2 min aphogee.

How do I incorporate this into my new Wen Regimen???

This happened to my sister. She didn't know about protein, etc...not a "hair board person," so she just stopped using it.

I didn't up my protein use, but I definitely can't skip a week. I DC with MT every weekend, and I can definitely see how you could have moisture overload. I actually did skip last weekends MT, and had a bit more shedding than usual.

I dunno if it's just me, but I always think when I hear these accounts of hair falling out that the person has a pre-existing scalp issue that just got exacerbated by the Wen. If I wasn't using Neem & Tea Tree oil, AVJ, and ACV in my other products, I'd have the same issue too...because my scalp needs to be Clean.

I experienced a small interval of excess hair shedding while using Wen. I couldn't pin point the issue. I did up my protein and have been using WEN for about 2 years, and used hair one before hand. Sulphate free since 2009.

I continue and will continue to use Wen as long as they make it the same. 613 is the BOMB.COM is all I have to say and will be in my circle of love :) :yep:

So im reading my Summer Mango Coconut bottle and theres Hydrolyzed Soy Protein and Hydrolyzed Rice Protein in it they are both really far down on the ingredient list but theyre in there.
And in the 613 I see Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein along with Hydrolyzed Soy Protein

I think those are light proteins that help hair accept moisture better, but not strong enough to actually fortify the hair like say Keratin.

I believe there is some truth to that. My hair tends to get over moisturized quickly. And although I love my beloved Wen, I believe I need to use more protein in between. I have higher porosity and fine hair which I think has these properties of needing more protein.

BTW, I love 613, pom and mango.

My Lavender just arrived today and I'm expecting my Fig in about 2-3 weeks.:look:

After I had been using Wen for a few months it seemed like our hair was shedding or something. It felt funny. I started using more light protein conditioners on a regular basis and everything is great. I try and do light protein on everybody once a week or every other week.

I'm relaxed (Silk Elements Reg) and colored (Bigen black/brown). I pre-poo with hair mayo or ORS Replenishing Con. I also keep a bottle of Aphogee Green Tea and Keratin handy.

buMP JJamiah and any other WEN users...

How do you use the protein? Do you use Wen then follow up with a protein treatment? Or do you shampoo before doing a protein treatment?

naturalagain2- I use Wen like shampoo. I cleanse my hair first then use protein then use a DC. I remove the shampoo from my stash and just put Wen in it's place.

Hey ladies, which Wen are you currently using and why?

Almond because that's what came with the starter kit and I thinking of trying the mango coconut idk or someone other cleansing conditioner since they're so many out and if I don't like it, it going right back to the store than back to wen
