Okay, ladies I took my micros down, Deep conditioned, and did a coconut oil treatment rinsed.. I applied Carol Daughter's Herbal shampoo:nono: and the result was TANGLES!! 3 HUGE SECTIONS, were matted together, I am currently 12 weeks post and this has never happened to me before.. It took me 3 hours to detangle my hair seeing all of the shed hair caused me to panic (I cried the entire time, I was seriously considering going natural and chopping my hair off!) after detangling and blowdrying i smoothed my hair into a pony tail and tucked the ends...

Today after work I took my Bun down sealed with coconut oil and CD's elxir, sectioned my hair off into 3 mini buns and put my hair cap on, So far so good:look:.. Tommorow the Battle begins again!!:drunk: LOL .. Back to Babying my hair!! I have pics in my album... Ladies can you recommend a decent detangler?, Also do you have any similar stories??

Did you comb out all the shed hairs before you washed? That might have been the culprit.

Oil mixed with a conditioner with a lot of slip seems like the best solution, i.e. Hello Hydration conditioner. As long as you continue to baby your hair and keep it moisturized I am sure you will be fine.

Thank you!!

I did use the Hello Hydration, It did help! But yes that is what I think happened, I did not throughly detangle before applying the conditioner and when I shampooed it was a disaster waiting to happen.. luckily my hair is still thick, I did trim off 1" health is more important than length!.

I have the same question, did you detangle your hair after you took the braids out? I mean before the wash, not after. This is how you MUST do it in the future-- in order to avoid the matting and tangling during the wash process. You have to remove the shed hairs before washing.

If you did that, then the problem may be w/your products. I find shampoos to be very stripping, some brands are worse than others--they can really dry out your hair. and if you don't replace enough moisture back into your hair afterwards (which is difficult to do w/stripping shampoos), then your hair can end up very tangly. Alot of commercial conditioners are very watered -even the [so called] deep conditioners. What product did you use?

As far as a great detangler, the Tangle Teezer is one of the best products I ever bought. i have very tightly coiled 4b hair, and it is the only thing that has been able to tackle my hair. It has saved me from losing alot of hair over the past few months I've had it.

For detangling products, I spray on Nioxin Thermal Bliss Protector (which is also a detangler)-- before I blowdry and it adds strength and is the best detangling (and thermal protectant leave-in) product I've come across yet

I did detangled before washing, Maybe that wasnt enough but knowing my hair is prone to breakage I did not go back and throughly check... (mistake #1)

It is also the shampoo I used (Carol Daughter's Herbal shampoo...NEVER AGAIN!.,HE Hello Hydration, sealed with CD's hair elixir also used CD's Shea butter balm..after detangling).. I need to stick with what I know that works with my hair. I will look in to the TT.
Another thing I forgot, I have never had bsl hair:rolleyes:, I need to be more careful with length comes the cons of it.. :nono:

I was just about to ask the same question... Make sure when you take down the braid to comb the hair that was braided several times to get the shedded hair, dust or whatever get trapped while hair is braided..

I am taking mine down Wednesday and I will definitely make sure to comb that hair several times before wash and conditioning to get the shedded out....
