ok. Ladies here's the story:

Back in October of 2006 I went to a braid salon and got my hair braided. Before I got it braided, I also got a relaxer, and cut it all even...........

Well fast forward to the finishing of the braids:

The lady stuck the braids into water to set them and afterwards dried the braids. Then she proceeded to used a lighter on the back of my hair. I was like hold on  , I don't want that lighter on my hair!!!!!and she was like (oh it is just to smooth out the stray hairs, it is not burning YOUR real hair). Well I made her stop either way! Ok...... so I take them down two months later and guess what:mad:.........YOU GUESS IT! an uneven MESS!

Ok, so I cried and felt bad for myself and then tried to just doctor it back to health. But it is April and all that happened was it continued to grow and grow uneven, so when you look at my fotki album you will see the mess!

Is there anyone else out there this...or something like this....happen to?
I need some words of encouragment. Thanks a bunch:(

i think your hair looks fine. it's definitely even now. i wish my hair was even like yours. dont worry just baby your ends, eat healthy and DC weekly, and your hair will retain it's length.

Hey pretty lady! I had an unfortunate accident like that about a year or so ago. The thing that happened with me was she put nail glue on the end of my braids and I didn't know she had done it until towards the end. My hair was also a mess when I took them out. I'm still mad at that freak of a hair stylist! So, I just sucked it up and got a much needed trim. I'm sorry this happened to you but there's sunshine after the rain. Take care!

Your hair looks really nice and healthy after the trim. Just think of it as a fresh start and keep up the good work!! Can't wait to see your progress in a few months. :)

 Awww. it's gonna be okay, sorry that happened to you. That hasn't happened to me recently, but it did a long time ago before I discovered hair boards. Just pamper your hair. It definatley looks great now, so keep up what you're doing.

I hope you feel better. In a few months this will all blow over and you'll be admiring your hair more and more every day!

There was another post out there about this same exact situation. You hair still looks great, and you are very pretty. I am also getting over a setback after braids so I am trying to be positive about the whole thing.

Good Luck!!!

Thank you girl, I needed that. You are always so sweet. It is a shame that we try and baby our hair and someone else comes in a second and jacks up the progress. I guess that best thing to do is to only do it ourselves:p

Stay strong, lovely lady. Your hair is even now and ready to start growing more than ever. It looks nice and healthy. Now that it's even, you can rest assure that it will grow even. Treat those ends like fine baby hair. Care for them as you would a baby's bottom. Good luck to you, beautiful one. You're going to do just fine. Just look at it this way: you KNOW that your hair can grow. All you have to do is be patient and take care now that you know how to.

GOD luck and take care,

SP

Aww, I'm sorry that happened to you. We all have setbacks, but you will get through it quicker than you think! Anyways, your hair looks great now and you're starting fresh with thicker, healthier hair!:D

Yes it happened me in September of 06. I got microbraids and mind you I have been getting them since I was in high school and have had much success with them ALWAYS. I do believe this lady had NO utter idea what she was doing. I trimmed my ends as I always do before the micro braids and when I took them down my hair was a mess. The outer perimeters of my hair were gone but the inside were fine. I didn't know what to do. I cried myself to sleep that night and called my best friend for her to come look. She said we need to see a beautician the next morning. She finally dragged me out and the lady told I needed my hair cut because it would keep splitting but she wouldn't do it until I was ready. Two days later we came back and the cut was really pretty.
