In the 70s the got perms just they could wear afros. Photos of the older white lady getting her brand new 'fro being picked out were comical.

I know a lot of white people with curly fros. Maybe because my neighbourhood and city have a lot of Jews and Italians, and many of them have curly hair. In university a lot of kids wore afros. I think it's really cute and I don't think it's a big deal.

ETA: If you Google "jew fro" you'll see exactly what I mean.

I did this on a section of hair, it actually worked..I don't have the time to do my whole head though.
