I have been listening to you lovely ladies for quite a while and lots of you talk about conditioner washing. I really don't understand the concept. I know that I need to do something during the week because I am working out a lot more. But I guess I don't understand how to actually do this. Do you basically put the conditioner on your hair like a shampoo and then wash like you have shampoo on your hair. Do you basically DC without pooing and just wash it out? I know this is elementary stuff but I must admit I am a little slow with the basics. :ohwell:

I would like some clarification on this also. I have been wondering what exactly is involved in a co wash...

Please help us.

Kinikakes has a good tutorial on how she co-washes. Personally it does not work for me.

Don't feel bad for asking questions! That's what this board is all about.:)

To answer your original questions, though, you can do both. Typically, I just wet my hair in the shower and squirt some conditioner on it. Then I work it into my hair as if I'm lathering shampoo. I try to avoid rubbing conditioner into my scalp, though - it can lead to itchies later on. Then I rinse out the conditioner and use my leave-ins as normal.

I haven't personally done it the other way, but some other ladies have put DC on dry hair, let sit, and rinsed it out as their method of "conditioner washing". Do what works for you, there really is no "right" or "wrong" way.:D

A conditioner wash is when you use conditioner instead of shampoo to cleanse your hair and scalp. Conditioner washes keep your hair soft and supple and moisturized from root to tip. You can choose the frequency of doing these but most people benefit from doing one, two or more a week. Some people do them daily.
