I am semi-newly natural. It's been a year since my last relaxer and 7 months since the accidental bc. I'm still trying to figure out how to KEEP braid-outs, twist-outs from turning into FRIZZ by mid-day!!!!! I bought a product called "Gel" from this natural hair store with help from the owner. It worked for about a week or two; now the frizz is back! Hair looks good in the morning and a MESS a few hours later!!! Help! Need suggestions!!!

You could try to avoid products with glycerin and try out a different hair gel. Glycerin is a humectant (draws moisture to itself) and can cause frizz for some.

did you put oil on your hair? it reduces frizz and especially when you touch it it great to have oil on your hands

I was encountering this daily and found that after my hair was better moisturized internally, the frizz came to and reaching halt. The products used didn't matter, taking down, unraveling technique didn't matter either.

IA about the glycerin and oil. Also maybe try using some type of butter.

Sorry, I actually like when my hair grows throughout the day so I don't do too much to subdue it. LoL

GL! :)

Sounds like you have fine hair or at least some fine strands. I wasted so much money on products to resolve this. In the end, I realised I had fine hair and couldn't rock twists without the frizz or so called fly aways. Even when I found a 'perfect' product any humidity or rain and the frizz would come back.

Best,

The gel may have glycerin, sucking in that moisture may be causing your hair to frizz.
A cream/heavy butter or oil to seal your hair helps lay your cuticles.
Also doing your twists on dry hair or lightly damp hair.

@ SEMO That is so good to know. I just bought S-Curl Activator today (I could NOT resist all the rave reviews AND it's cheap) and the second ingredient is glycerin!!!!

I have fine hair as well and I have to use a heavy product to weight my strands down a bit in order to reduce frizz..get you a butter and some decent gel

Hmmmm I usually do twists on soaking wet hair.

I did make a shea butter mix, but one of the ingredients is glycerin! I'm still in search of better butter and possibly gel too. Not a fan of Eco-styler :nono:. The "My Gel" that I have was good at first and there is not flaking.

I found doing my hair on soaking wet hair. Not only would they have major shrinkage when they dried but it would frizz by the end of the day as they dried.
I now do my twists on dry, stretched hair. Lightly mist a section and heavily seal with castor oil and shea butter. Wrap every night. I don't usually co-wash in twists unless I've been exercising, because the water will cause my hair to frizz and shrink.

I know this syndrome all too well.

I have found that using setting lotion (LottaBody),
a hair mousse (Nairobi is great)
or
beeswax
helps my situation a GREAT deal.

Some will not agree because of the ingreds,
but for me,
IT WORKED!!!

That makes so much sense. Setting lotion, duh! *hand slapping forehead*

I do :
*moisture
(acv/h2o/SAA mix)
*setting lotion
*Crisco
*twist
*air dry

This works well for me whether I use the setting lotion or not.
