Sidestepping the "lynch mob"
..my fellow short-haired beauties... question, do you know if you get MORE stares with your twa than before? I've been wearing mine for a little more than a week, and I swear I'm getting more stares. Some people, I can tell, admire the 'do. Others, I just can't tell what's on their minds. But they're neither frowning nor shaking their heads, so it's tough to gauge. I love my cut, but how do you handle the attention.. and not just from men! OR is it just me???

My mother has a TWA and has had one for about 15 years. When she first got it cut, she got negative comments from teenagers. However she always got positive comments from men and women. The men loved the freedom of her hair the women admired her courage. They always told her that she looked so good with it, however they did not feel courageous enough to carry off that look on their own. They thought the men in their lives would turn their backs on them if they went for such an extreme change. Whatever....

it brings out your features. Many people have told me that my twa heightens my beautiful features. People are attracted to your confidence, boldness, and beauty.

HA! well, unlike your mom, I have no man in my life, so the freedom is exhilirating. But I did discuss the chop w/ my ex when he wasn't my ex

and he was a bit apprehensive. Now, my male friends are the ones giving me the positive feedback!

I don't take responses from teens or kids seriously... they don't know any better.

yeah, you're right.. my cheekbones and eyes are more prevalent.

I think the ppl equate such a short style with confidence. I'll relax and not be so tense. I'm just not used to all this attention! thanks for the feedback...

twa stands for teeny weeny afro...

Laela, I've noticed more attention as well. I even had some man honking at me while I was driving, and he hollered "looking good!" out the window.

You think that you get some attention now...wait until you try some baby twists and coils! :0)

Because I transitioned for 7 months...I didnt really have a TWA...but I did get the looks...I think we get them...not only because of the SHARP cut...but because we are natural as well...and that is not a common (not yet) hairstyle...

I say...WORK IT!

Okay, I'm 6 months post relaxer, and I'll be 6 & 1/2 months, by the time I cut the relaxed ends off.

This might be a dumb question, but I'm not sure if I'll have a twa or not. Pookeylou said she didn't at 7 months, but then again I'm not sure how long her natural hair was at that point.

I currently have 3 inches of new growth, and have 4a/b hair with looser curls similar to that of Sherly Temple..... Fill me in guys! Take me under your wings!

A teeny Weeny afro is 2 inches or less in my mind.

I had closer to 3 inches or more when I cut off the permed ends, and about 5 inches or more of permed ends.

I did, people were like damn Keisha. But I have been known to do some strange things with my hair. My husband liked it, by my male fam didn't. One of my husband 's friends was like it's something about a woman with a twa.

In my opinion, short hair on women and twas are very attractive and appealing! So anyone who can pull it off....you go!

Dang, I thought i still had a twa at 3.5 inches which is my current length. but i love it none the less- got a lot of looks people love it and the versatility of the styles that i now wear as well as the texture.

yeah, i get quite a bit of stares...that are usually followed by smiles. but, i smile alot myself

depending on my mood, i'll either adapt a vain nature and charge it to me just being so cute

...sometimes i'm annoyed.

Since my haircut I've mainly been in the house esp. since I'm not working right now. Well, I went into DC this thursday and soooooo many guys were trying to talk to me...it was crazy! I was like..Okay, Kenesha's still got it...I didn't think I'd lost it because of the TWAl; I just had been in a funk since I lost my job anywho....The TWA is FLY if you are FLY!!!!

My twa is just about gone. Ill admit, I wasnt crazy about it at first. BUT i got used to it and I loved the low maintainence. Four months later Im in braids and cant wait to take this crap out
