TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
I was contemplating BCing in January. Can you natural divas help me with hair care tips? The longer I transition, the more heat I will use.:ohwell: I need help with moisture and sealing tips. I will be probably wash n go at night and refresh it in the morning until I can twist my hair.

Someone please stop by Ddtexlaxed home and remove all cutting objects stat!
:lachen::lachen::lachen: I don't have any cutting tools. I'm tired of dealing with 2 textures. I am considering BCing in January. Heck, I may do it, sooner! I'm going to be looking for wigs in the meantime.:yep:

I chopped in February and I wore wigs and scarves until spring. I wore my hair in a mini puff for the spring and summer. And then I got mini box braids (with extensions) for the Fall. You got this!

DD Omg!! wondering the same thing....

Ladies some of us are NOT weave friendly....I just can't do it....:nono:

Some sealing...moisture advice?? Coping with dry weather??

Stay away from products with glycerin if you live in a dry climate. That will ZAP your poor hair so fast!

Protective styling for a TWA is pretty darn challenging. If you don't want to do weaves, maybe you can try twists or braids with extensions? Maybe even micro braids?

If not my best suggestion is just to moisturize at night and seal with a nice oil that your hair likes. Personally, I've been sealing with a combination of Crisco and walnut oil. :lick:

Yes I said Crisco, the vegetable shortening!! I mixed it with the walnut oil and use it in place of hair grease. :yep:

When I big chopped I had about 2-3 inches of hair and I wore my hair in 1 strand twists or did a wash and go---I only sealed my hair once a day with either a small amount of shea butter and coconut oil (while wet) or Cantu Moisturizer with castor oil to seal...This really helped me get through that stage...(It wasnt to difficult for me)

Sooo...

Is a twa not a PS? (barring any friction w/ clothes ect.) What creams/oils are you guys using to seal? Also some non-glycerine ways to tame the curls? Trying to break my ecostyler addiction this winter...:drunk:

Ms Sianna: Crisco is the buisness...just too heavy for my fro...

Elle:Your hair is similar to mine...what did you seal with???

Your last relaxer was the same day as mine and I have roughly 2-3 inches around my hair. I am currently washing once weekly and deep conditioning twice. I moisturize on those days and refresh with water, a shea/water based moisturizer or gel as needed. Let me not forget to mention. JBCO is my homegirl. She keeps my scalp in line. So far there is no dry hair over here...

I don't know what I would do without my EcoStyler... My 3c hair can do without it and still have defined curls but my 4a hair looks like a bush without it. I can't be walking around with half my hair curly/coily while the other part is a fro.

Last winter I used Hariveda's Cocasta oil to seal, or at night I just used a butter. I used non-glycerin stylers, like Komaza Califia Styling Pudding or PUR Whipped Gelly (but I no longer use AfroVeda). My hair is not a fan of EcoStyler at ALL, it has too much protein and glycerin - my hair was always super dry the next day after using it.
