TSA searched woman hair.

This is just a glorified weave check...was the TSA agent Niko's cousin?

But seriously...not cool. I would be upset too.

I think someone just wanted to touch her hair. It was definitely out of order after a full body scan, ridiculous.

TSA reps questioned my wet bun once and my regular bun twice. One TSA lady told me "it's your hair", what's in your bun (while she held it). I said, "my hair". She looked incredulous but I didn't think too much of it. I offered to take it down but she said it wouldn't be necessary. :scratchch

I know some hair pins can raise the additional search flag, so I don't wear them. If you wear a hat, you have to take it off, does that mean you have to take a wig off too? Some of these lacefront monstrosities look like hair hats.

They probably thought her puff was fake or maybe she had a hair band with metal on it.

ETA: Her hair is beautiful, I need to know what she uses to get the shine.

A TSA chick kinda checked my hair one time, she like ran her hands over the front and at the back of my head too. I thought it was weird and I didn't say anything but other than that one time it's never happened before. If someone goes to actually DIG in my fro though, there will be some problems.

I was like "eh" when I first saw the title, but what pissed me off was that no one else with similar hair sizes was searched.

This sounded so dumb because her hair isn't super long and her bun was not large enough to hide anything. Of course, the airline "security" will get away with it. Typical...:nono:

Her hair is gorgeous. I think it's weird that they felt the need to search her hair, because I had personally traveled and gone through checkpoints with big hair (with pins metal bobby pins) and never been questioned, even after going through the imaging system. Very suspicious....

phuck that....i want to know specifically WHY her hair was searched? did they fear a concealed weapon? WTF????

i want to know WHY!

and as for her, i believe she is completely right to inquire and to feel violated. what is the x-ray scan for? that machine doesn't detect weaopns????

the scan can't detect weapons hidden in HAIR?

then what good is it????

When I was going through security at the airport in Charlotte last week the TSA lady asked to pat down my pony tail. I had never heard of hair being searched before and because I didn't know whether to feel offended or flattered I just smiled. I guess she thought my hair was "bangin"

they're just doing their jobs. I'm sure they don't like the fact that they have to feel everybody up either :ohwell:

My hair was searched at a local airport in Nigeria. I was more concerned with them touching other parts though...

ITA with this. If she went through the x-ray why search her hair. It can see through skin and flesh but not through hair? :ohwell: I've seen other hair styles besides puff's that have the potential to hide weapons or whatever they were searching for. I've never seen them be searched.

That's just downright ridiculous. Keep your filthy hands out of my hair! If you gone search my hair, you betta put some gloves on cuz I REFUSE to have one of your raggedy hang nails snatchin at my curls!!

I never pay my hair too much mind when I fly, but I guess I should now. It's amazing, has there been a hair bomber or something we missed in the news?! After the shoe bomber dude, they started makin us take our shoes off to be searched. What was the hair search in response to?!

Her hair was beautiful, tho! I love when natural hair is featured in the news and it looks GOOD!

Hmm,

Usually when they start using "out of line tactics" it means they diverted a threat that wasn't made public. I didn't read the article because frankly I'm tired of hearing about TSA.

-Former FA.

That was well out of order. TSA is getting out of hand - hope the lady gets some explanations. I have seen customs officials also targeting black people arriving from Jamaica but not the white people on the same flight. Not enough of us complain so this discriminatory treatment continues.

I went to California in May to visit family and when I went I was wearing a fluffy twist out and when I came back I was wearing my hair in a afro puff. And nobody asked about my hair and if they had I would've had a fit.:lachen:

One request: if you must run your hands in my hair please put some olive oil on them first.

lol lol ....................but seriously though her hair wasn't even long enough or big enough to hide a weapon in. This sounds like some straight foolishness...Oh and her hair is purtty!!!

WELL I GUESS THEY HAD TO DO IT BECAUSE
HER HAIR IS THE BOMB

sorry, i had to do it. :look:

I'm not one to cry race, but this sounds like it might have been racially motivated. However, they do often make (Muslim) women take off their head coverings. I'm not Muslim, but I used to wear head coverings while traveling but I stopped because every time I did so, I ended up being stopped for a "random" search :ohwell: - either at the scanners or right before boarding.

The woman has every right to be upset, but I would have gone ahead and complied like she did. When you're rushing to get on a plane, the last thing you want to do is risk getting arrested. That's how they get away with it.
