No! Trimming hair does not make it grow faster. Trimming hair only keeps your hair looking neat and even. IMO, if you want to get to a certain length faster stay away from the scissors and only trim on an as needed basis.

Trimming maintains a neat appearance. It does not increase growth. I'm an advocate for trimming but only when it's absolutely necessary.

Ditto to all those who posted previously. I've found that since I've been paying such close attention to my ends and keeping them sealed, I've only had to get them trimmed as needed, and so far that's once this year.

In my opinion, for health AND growth you need to trim away split ends. How often depends on your use of heat and how fast your hair grows, but it will never be a healthy, full length if you NEVER trim your split ends. That, plus my regimen, is the main reason why my hair is brastrap now.

no. if you take good care of your ends and limit your usage of heat.(if possible eliminate all usage of heat) then your less likely to get split ends. trimming DOES not promote hair growth

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Anyhoo- my regimen consists of this:

I wash wkly using Garnier shampoo ("primer") and KeraCare Hydrating shampoo. KeraCare is incredible and leaves my hair soft. It also make my new growth lay down. Also, I wash down the length of my hair and not on top of my head so that there are no tangles.

I have highlights. So, I condition w/Paul Mitchell Color Care conditioner. (provides a lot of slip!

) What is slip? It's exactly how it sounds: your comb slips right through when detangling. I use this w/no heat.

I do not towel dry my hair. I wrap it using a combo of a leave-in (Salerm 21, Infusium or Neutrogena Triple Moisture)and a setting lotion (KeraCare, Wrap n Tap or Elasta QP). These vary depending on my mood

. I dry then style using a serum as heat protection and a ceramic iron. This adds major shine and softness.

I trim every other perm and I perm about every 6wks. I perm myself w/no-lye. When I perm, I use Porosity Ctrl as my conditioner.

Hope that helps!
