How long do you wait in between trims? In the past I would do it every 6 to 8 weeks. But now, since I am apart of LCHF I am going to try to wait longer.

I used to trim every 8 wks, but Im gonna wait longer, like 4-6 months. Im gonna try to retain all my length till I make it to BSL.:)

I'm trying to get away with going a year. That means not trimming till this October. I've had mini snips since then but not all around the head, with my regimen so far my ends are doing pretty good.

I typically trim every 8 weeks, I only trim what needs it, and my hair is extremely uneven, but I don't care, lol. Once it grows out some more I am going to get it evened out better, PROFESSIONALLY.

My hair hasn't been trimmed since January. I'm going to see how it feels at my next relaxer in July. I have done a little S&D, but no major trimming.

I typically get my hair trimmed on the day that I get my hair retouched. So, right now that's every 20-24 weeks. Before it was every 6-8 weeks.

Same here. I have a relaxer coming up in July and we'll see how it is. I hadn't had it trimmed in forever and it was very uneven before I started going to the Dominicans.

When I was natural, I didn't trim for 4 or 5 years an my hair was completely fine. Then when I went back to relaxing I somehow convinced myself that I had to trim with every touch-up. That was a dummy move for me.

Since I've been here I've been trimming once a year. Now, I won't be trimming for 2 years at least. We'll see what happens in 2009.

Before LHCF I would trim every 6-8 weeks
because that's what the stylist brainwashed
me into thinking would help me retain length.
Now...
I'm 8 weeks post last trim...
I can go 6 months probably...
but... my ends are protected...
and I don't use heat at all...
so... I'd say... do it on an as needed basis...
Oh... I hate "raggedy ends"... so I prefer
to keep mines even...
I will probably "dust" if I really need it...
otherwise I don't see the point.

I havent trimmed since March but last Wednesday my ends were looking rough:eek: So I had to take the scissors to them:mad: I really wanted to wait out till Aug and that would make it only 3 trims this year but I couldnt. I keep on having setbacks but thats okay my goal is thickness this year not length....but it would be nice:grin:

i just trim as needed. That ends up being 3-4 times per yr. I have been known to get a little happy w/ scissors, so I try only to trim when my ends look or feel a bit out of line.

6 months... since i am natural and the splits don't travel up my hair as easily as when i was relaxed. around the 6-month mark, my ends get harder to detangle, and a good trim always alleviates this problem.

How often did u trim when u were relaxed?

I guess I'm in the minority, 'cause I actually plan to up the ante in terms of regular trims. I currently only trim once every 6-8 weeks, but I'm going to start doing it every 4. I think the longer your hair is, the more often you should trim.

I remember reading an article about Aaliyah when she was alive, and she talked about how she got her ends trimmed every 2 weeks. I have a cousin with mid-back length hair, and she also trims hers every 2 weeks. Her hair is long and the ends look great.

Your hair ain't gonna stop growing because you trim it. In fact, the trims help you retain length because it prevents your hair from splitting up the shaft and breaking. I can't stand raggedy ends!
