I'm in serious need of a trim! I'm 6 months into my transition and I've experienced a lot of breakage and whatnot over the past year. So I'm trying to change things up. Firstly I'm going to get my hair straightened and trimmed this week, but how much should I cut? I know the ends are terrible and scraggly. I hate the way stylists tend to cut across in a straight line so I also want to avoid that if I can. I would hate to cut above the shoulders, as I've never had hair that short. I did a quick flat iron and didn't get the roots really straight, but here's a pic, I know it's rough:

I hate how short my hair is now. Makes me tear up. I think about all the effort and money I put into my hair...and this is all I have to show for it.

If it must be trimmed above the shoulders in order to achieve healthy ends then so be it.

It is what it is...and it will grow back.

from the pic OP... I would say ur probably going to get it cut just above the shoulders if ur goal is to get a 'even' trim..

Looks like you can get a U shaped cut which will leave you slightly longer then SL.

That's what I'm hoping for, but if I have to cut above that I will. I just want the damaged ends gone and I know I'll have to cut all the relaxed hair anyway. I might as well get used to trims over the next year or two. The reason it's gotten this bad is lack of trims last year.
