and I was pleasantly surprised. I've not done one because for some reason, despite all the raves about it, I thought it would leave my hair stripped of all oil and dry.(When I think of vinegar I think of Windex) Instead it felt like I was pouring a conditioner rinse through my hair. Left it very soft.

I will definitely keep doing this!!

I did my first acv rinse last week and got the same results. the build up I had was horrible and the acv rinse really helped plus on top of that my hair was soft AND shiny!

I also do them on a regular basis and they leave my hair feeling very soft and my scalp feeling so clean!

Doing an ACV rinse has to be one of the best hair tips that I've come across so far. My hair looks totally revived after this rinse and it comes out so soft too!

ACV rinses are great!

But you CAN overdo them, though. They tend to make my hair frizz if I use them more than once every 3-4 days, or if I make the solution too strong. About one tablespoon per two cups of water is enough for me. I think the ratio you need to use will vary according to your hair and your products.

Oh, and for anyone who might be concerned about the smell, try using it after you shampoo, but before you put in the conditioner. Trust me, you'll get the same benefits, there won't be any vinegar smell, and your conditioner will work better.

I've never tried an ACV rinse so I have a question: How long after a relaxer treatment should you wait to do an ACV rinse? Or, is it so diluted that the acidity of the vinegar won't do your hair any harm?

its so funny....being here, ive learned that everything in my kitchen is good for my hair!!!

so, how do you know what ratio of water to vinegar is best for your hair?? is it just a trial and error thing???

Can some one explain how to do an ACV rinse? Do you start with dry hair and pour it on? Do you wet your hair then pour it on? Do you put in on before or after you shampoo/condition? Do you let it sit on your hair for a bit or do you rinse immediately?

Babychoc, I do CW's only and do not experience buildup because I do ACV rinse after each wash (about 1/4 cup vinegar to 1 gallon water) -- talk about slip and shine!

Found this in a search. Good luck. I'm going to try it too.

I have tried and tried to make ACV work for me but I think my hair just doesnt like it. It makes my hair rough and hard...quite the opposite of slip and shine...lol. Id really like it to work though since I bought 2 big bottles...lol. at least it was cheap!

Leslie, what's the ratio that you're using and are you using distilled water with your vinegar?

I use 1/2 of vinegar and 28oz of water. See if it works for you, I'd hate to see all that vinegar go to waste.

Great idea! Recently, I've been adding a little rosewater to mine and it works out well too.
Take care,
