I was curious has anyone ever been or considered going to a trichologist? Ifso please share your experience. I'm considering it

There's a trichologist here in LA at Mahogany Hair Revolution, and I've been thinking about booking an appointment.

I'd just like to learn more specific details about my hair...maybe I could learn new strategies for taking better care of it.

No sorry I have never been to a trich only a derm and plz note ladies, they don't know squat about hair and scalp. From my pov; I'd say there is nothing to loose by passing up a derm to go visit a trich. Derms have a habbit of passing our scalp issues off as dandruff rather than to take the time to figure out what's really wrong and why. I'm very sensative to alot of common products on the market so I have to watch my ingredients...I had to figure that out on my own...I'd love to get an assessment from a Trich though and take some products that I know make my scalp itchy/sensative.

I want to go because I have dry hair and I dont think prorosity is an issue. It just doesnt make sense for my hair to feel like this. I'm hoping they could analyze my cuticles under a microscope or something lol.

I would love to go because I'm sure the good ones know a LOT more about growing hair than dermatologist and conditions of the scalp. And they certainly know more about hair care. I'm surprised they aren't more popular.

Yea thats why I want to go I want to really understand what certain scalp conditions and thinning stems from.

My DD has been going to a Natural Hairstylist/Studying Trichologist and we LOVE her! DD's scalp is so much healthier and her ends are no longer crunchy looking. Once we get DD's hair whipped into perfect shape, I'm going to start making appointments for myself.

I've started a progress album for her if you'd like to take a look at it (it's in my profile).

I'm glad this thread popped up. I am going to try and find one in the Metro Atlanta area that specializes in AA hair ... if one exists.

I haven't been but I was debating on this. I went to the allergist instead and was diagnosed with psoriasis.

Wow, I was just looking for one in my area on yesterday. I definitely want to see a trichologist because I have had some hair issues with thinning and hair loss lately and I find that derms have not been helpful at all. I hope that I will be able to find one in Maryland area.
