tree braids vs. crochet.?

Are these one and the same or 2 different techniques?

tree braids are like cornrows with hair sticking out crochet is cornrows with hair kind of wrapped around the braid and tied.

thanks ladies for the info. now i must ask. which style last longer and are you able to wash it without it falling out.

I've had both and I think that the tree braids would last longer. When I had crochet braids, they began to feel heavy after I washed them and the parts inbetween my braids widened. With tree braids, you can wash your hair and the weight of the hair won't expose the parts in your head.

i just looked at dsd's album with the tree braids, very interesting, i dont think that style is in NY yet...i have never seen it or heard of i b4...i like them......
