Hey! I've been "stretching" my relaxer since January, but I think I'm going to be transitioning. Anyways, the other day my roommate pointed out to me that I needed at least an inch or two 'trimmed' from my ends because they were thin. I REAAALLLY am hesitant to do this because I think I read somewhere on here awhile ago that stretching leads to thinner looking ends but I can't find the exact post. My ends ARE thin :perplexed, but they're not split or breaking or anything...and I'm trying not to trim my hair for a while...can anyone help me or give me a link to the thread on this topic?? Thanks!!!

Don't do it! I'm a regular stretcher and yes it's normal for the ends to appear thin when stretching/transitioning. It's just shrinkage at the roots that's causing it. If you were to relax or straighten out your hair it would look 'normal' again.

SistaSlick explains it best!
Imaging the newgrowth and straight ends like this:

Hope that helps and good luck with the transition!
