It has been 7 weeks since my last touch up. I'm feenin' I am so used to slappin that relaxer on my hair at 4 weeks! And what is so bad? I really dont need a relaxer right now. I really dont but you know as soon as I saw my edges get all frizzy, I was wantin' too. My co-worker said to me,"You need a touch-up. Doncha?" I wanted to smack his teeth in. He had the nerve to call his wife and tell her I needed one. I told him I was going natural and he frowned. FROWNED!!!! " I would never let my wife do that" I asked him if he was her daddy and he shut up then. I need some support, lol.:spinning: I feel like I am going to relax it. I need to get this Bantu out of my house with a quickness. Y'all talk me down! Look at my hair and tell me I need my butt kicked.

Hi Landakaye,

Girl, you do not need to relax you hair. Your hair looks fine. I only transitioned for six weeks and bc'd. But you can do this, trust me. You will love your beautiful, thick, healthy, natural hair. Natural hair is not always easy but it is beautiful and worth the work. No worrying about touch ups or damage from relaxers. So take a deep breath and try to learn the lesson transitioning and natural hair teaches: Patience.

On another note, the link to your album does not work--it has an extra http// in it. Once I finally figured out how to get to your album the password did not work. You say it is hair. But, it is HAIR. Don't mean to be picky but I don't think most people would be as patient as I was to figure this all out. So, please edit your post and I bet you'll get lots of responses and encouragement! :yep:

Thank you. I went in and fixed everything. I am going to work onmy patience though. I know it looks fine. Im just having one of those days. LOL

Girl I know what you mean. Every since like 6 years old, whenever my edges got fuzzy or didn't lay down "the right way" I told my mom to buy me a perm. Until I got to LHCF, I KNOW what new growth is and found ways to take care of my edges and kitchen. I'm 8 weeks post relaxer and I swear my edges were lookin rough on week 4 maybe...I know that my hair will be much healthier if I didn't relax, rather than lookin good and being thin and overprocessed and breaking off!

Why are the edges and the first to get nappy so quick?!?!

If you really are tempted to use that Bantu, THROW IT AWAY NOW!!!!!! Right now, the things that you need are patience and support. IMO, the first three months of transitioning are the hardest. Are you planning to do a long term transition or do you plan on doing a BC early on? If you're thinking of doing the latter, you could always do a BC now. Hang in there, girl. It will be worth it in the end. :yep:

I found a home for the BANTU. Tai, I plan on long term transition and then chop chop. I know itll be worth it. I just need to work on my patience.:)

If I could offer any advice.... I'd remind u to think of the REASONS why your heart desires you to go natural... let that be ur main focus... hopefully that will help u to get over the relaxing "fenning" phase...

Your hair is beautiful ! I encourage you to stiick to it! When I transitioned I wore extensions and weaves and gradually cut off the relaxed hair. That was easier for me since I didn't have to deal with two textures on a daily basis.BTW what is your final goal lenght?

Oh yeh, Your Co- worker needs to mind his own ! Betcha he & his wife will be the first in line to find out your secret to your beautiful head of hair.

She realxes her hair every 3 weeks! Insanity!!!! I am thinking of doing braids for while to see how that works and then I'll cut it off. My goal length is some healthy shoulder length hair.

Ditto. :yep:

Girl your hair is beautiful. I agree with Peachtree think about your reasons for transitioning and focus on that and eventually this feeling will pass. I am almost 7 months into my transition and I can say that it gets easier mentally as time goes on. I wrote down my reasons for transitioning and also the date that I plan on chopping and that gives me something to work toward. This is my second time transitioning so I know the temptation and I know how I felt the last time I failed and I don't want to feel like that again.Just hang in there and browse some of the beautiful natural hair albums on this forum and you'll get over this feeling in no time.

Oooh chocolate... whenever I get discouraged I go in and look at people's albums with beautiful natural hair and then the urge to relax passes.

Thank you all for your encouraging words & support.

I was going to suggest that, browsing the many beautiful natural ladies albums and finally throwing out my last box of relaxer helped me get through my 3 month "unsure of my decision" period :yep:

Don't give in you can do it!!! i'm also doing a long term transition, i just cut around 4 inches off already. My decision is mainly because stylists messed up my textures, by first of all underprocessing, overprocessing my newgrowth to straight instead of curly and having to do correctives to match the texture. basically i've had enough, my hair will break anyway, no matter how much i care for it, its just that one inch of straight hair that ruined it. I noticed about a month ago that my hair is breaking at the demarcation point where straight and curly hair meet, i love my texturizer, but i've got to part with it even if its not what i really want. Good luck, i'm certain your making the right decision.

Hello All, I'm a returning member that is in the process of transitioning with intent to go au natural once and for all!!! LOL. I am so excited even though I only have about two inches of new growth. I love the springy-ness, shiny and feel of my new growth. I am wearing my hair in two strand twist until I at least get 6- 8 inches of new growth. As I like pinning my hair up. I am looking for advice on moisturizing products and other styles for 80% perm & 20% natural hair. Helppppp!!!

Step away from the creamy crack!!!!!

I know how you feel. My last hit of creamy crack was October 4, 2004 and I can attest that it gets easier as time goes by. Last week someone said to me that they were happy to see that I decided to stop relax my hair. I just laughed at them cause I didn't relax my hair, I used NTM serum and my flat iron. Just hang in there. It really does get easier.
