Can anyone offer me any advice to give my sister about transitioning? She is having problems with her roots tangling!! What can you all suggest to aid her with her tangling roots?

How often does she DC? How often does she detangle? What styles does she let her hair dry in?

I've never had to transition but as a natural I find that moisture really helps me manage my hair. Detangling regularly is really important in order to get the shed hair out...I suggest doing it in small sections on wet hair either saturated with conditioner or coconut oil. Also, if she air dries her hair in a bun or something like that, it may encourage tangles. She should try to dry her hair in braids or some other style that will stretch her hair out and make it less likely to tangle back on itself.

Also, check the transitioner's support thread for more information. Oh and the relaxer stretcher's support thread will probably be helpful as well.

In not sure about these questions, but I will ask her!! :yep:

What products is she using? Does she put her hair in sections to wash and moisturize..?[/quote]

I mentioned placing her hair in sections but she says she needs someone else to comb through it because she can't detangle it! :nono:
