Is transitioning to natural hair by blow drying new growth plus relaxed hair a viable option. To blend the two textures especially since I will probably be a heat trained natural down the road.
 
I think it is. If you really want to do it though you may want to consider the purchasing Revair if you don't already have it in order to stack your deck on preventing manipulation damage.

I actually haven't seen any generic versions of it. I did do a quick ebay search though and saw one sold for under 100 bucks including shipping in December though. I wish I could have gotten mine for that price. I would have taken a chance on that deal.

Expensive but worth every penny! Try grabbing one when they have a 50% off sale that's when I got mine during Black Friday. I think they run that sale 2x per year.
 
Depends on your texture. It would never work for my texture but if yours is looser and you plan to be heat trained in the future it may work
