I recently discovered a jar of Vitale Super Reconstructive treatment under the sink so I used it and loved it! I can't believe I never used this stuff as long as I've been relaxed.

Anyway, I'm wondering if it's a good idea to perform reconstructive treaments while transitioning. Also, do you still do them while natural? If so, how often?

I'm in the process of updating my regimen.

TIA :)

I think it is a great idea to do them while transitioning because it helps to strengthen the line of demarcation. I did them religiously all through my transition and I didn't have a problem w/ breakage. As a natural I still do them once a month. I used Nutress Hair to transition with and it's good stuff. I need to re-visit this one.

i use Ion Reconstructor (think i got it from Sally's) about every 3 weeks or so and concentrate it on the demarcation line down to the ends - new growth feels kindof hard if i use too much of it though.

so far so good.

probably a good idea to try it a few times and see how your hair responds :)

reconstructors helped me tremendously during my transition. I'm one of those who avoided the BC and did the long transition so it was great at preventing breakage. I used a reconstructor by fantasia after each wash. Now fully natural I try to do it 1-2x a month.

I used them when I was transitioning, probably once or twice a month. I never use them now as a natural, though.

I think that reconstructive treatments are very important during a long transition because as stated earlier it helps strengthen the line of demarcation. I've been using Duo Tex and Henna (I'm not sure if henna is a protein, but it acts like one) every other week and so far I haven't had any breakage & I'm over 5 months into my transition. :)

I never transitioned, but I used reconstructors when I was relaxed and as a natural so I'm sure it will be fine.

I use Nexxus Emergencee or Ion reconstructor about twice a month. I agree with the others that it helps strengthen the line of demarcation. I found out that my natural hair does not line heavy duty proteins that much, so I just apply them from the ends to right where the natural hair begins and I have no problems.

Thanks Everyone

This sounds like great advice. I'll keep the one I have and just incorporate it into my routine. It's gonna be a long stretch so I want to minimize as much breakage a possible.

Thanks a bunch, and Merry Christsmas :)
