How do you keep your hair from getting curly when you straighten it? Do you do anything special? I went thru the trouble of straightening my hair for Thanksgiving. I rollerset it, sat under the dryer for 1 1/2 hrs, wrapped it and it came out semi straight, but I was fine with it. I've been wrapping it at nite to keep it straight. Today I go take a shower, put on a shower cap, and apparently there's a leak because the back of my hair is curly. I know what I have to do, it's either use my curling iron to straighten it(I'm trying to use as lil heat as possible, or moisten my hair, re-rollerset it and wrap it. It was so easy when I was doing wash and go's, but noooo I wanted to see my hair straight. UUUUGGGHHH I'm so close to just relaxing it!!!(I haven't had a perm since Dec '06) Help!!!! :wallbash:

Awww Im sooo sorry to hear that your efforts kinda went down the drain. I straightened my hair for thanksgiving as well but i got it down at the Dominicans...they use one of those blow dryers that have heat like hell!!! which isnt really all that great, but it will keep my hair straight for about two weeks.

I would say, make a strategy! Don't give into that creamy disaster aka the perm. You may regret it. instead, make sure in the future that you have a good shower cap.

I myself, even though the blowdryer did an excellent job, my roots still coil up...so I just slap my flat iron to my roots to take care of em and put a lil gel on my edges to smooth it down.

don't let one event ruin your efforts...is this the only thing that bothers you with transitioning? Or are there more problems?
