Ladies,

My last two relaxers, I decided that I would get my hair texlaxed (I know that means different things to different people) but for me it means I wasn't getting it bone straight..about 65-70% straight. Although, I have experienced some problems with detangling, and getting it straight..I'm hoping the overall benefit will come through in the long run! My question is: Will there be a point when I have to cut off all the bone straight ends...because of breakage...I guess similiar to when someone transistions to natural and has to do the BC at some point??? I hope you understand what I'm trying to get at.

TIA!

Yep!

I had to do it and when I did, my hair thanked me for it. My hair is texlaxed maybe 50-60% and those ends were being a pain in the @ss. I did it earlier this year and havent looked back since. Gradually cutting off the ends only worked up until a certain point. Detangling was a huge headache before I cut it all off.

I'm transitioning to texlaxed. My last 2 relaxers (December 2005 and April 2006) I relaxed 70-75%. Now I have 3 inches (unstretched it's about 2-2.5 inches) of textlaxed hair and then 5 inches of bone straight ends (plus probably about 1 inch of new growth). It is difficult dealing with 3 textures but I'm happy about the thickness that my hair gaining. I will slowly trim away the bone straight hair. I think texlaxers can take a longer time before BC the bone straight hair because the texlaxed hair isn't drastically different from the bone straight hair or drastically different from the new growth. I don't think the line of demarcation is as suspectible to breakage. You do have to take your time dealing with it though.

I can't wait to cut it off. I'm going to be keeping my hair weaved most of the time (I'm in braids now though) that way I'll stay out of my hair and allow it to grow. I'll be redoing the weave every 4 weeks, washing weekly, and moisturizing daily. I will give a 1-2 week break in between weaves.

How are you finding the transition so far?

This is why I BCD to texlax. I wanted my hair to be uniformly texlaxed....hope this makes sense.
