Fearfully Wonderfully Made
Yesterday I got a relaxer touch-up. I now plan on getting my next relaxer in October (wish me luck

). I have 4 pics of my hair after getting one. Check out my album to see them!

Those are nice pictures. And, your smile looks so cute and adorable in picture #25. Keep up the good work Lady

looking good, Poohbear! Its definitely growing:) I might have to break down and get a touchup too next weekend(8 weeks for me) but if I can hold out Ill do it at week 10. I was going to hold out to 12 weeks but Im going to visit family in a couple of weeks and want it to look nice!

PS if your hair is a little damaged(from overprocessing, etc) u may want to trim before mid 2005 bc in the long run you will probably retain more length if u trim the ends to keep them from breaking/splitting. Im the same way, I want to hold on to as much length as possible, but I know little trims here and there are better than taking off several inches later due to damaged ends or breakage causing gaps. just a suggestion by no means do u have to agree

Yeah poohbear keep up the good work. Your hair has gotten so much thicker and it's growing out very nicely.

Nice pictures! And I agree with Leslie C about mini trims here and there. I think you'll retain more length that way.

hmmmm....

I'll think about the trim...but I've been retaining length through the bun method/challenge. Is that okay to do to retain length instead of trimming it off?

Oooh girl that's some growth
smile.gif
. I remember looking at your album a month ago, my what a difference. You said something about a trim in one of the comments for your picture, girl you should just go ahead and get one before you reach bra strap. Once you get there and have to cut your hair, technically you won't be bra strap anymore since you’ll be carrying along uneven ends. I didn't want to sacrifice my length either but in the long run I know it will pay off, I'm really happy to see my ends are finally even.

Like Allandra said go'on girl. It's definately growing. I'm happy for you, looks like you're one of our cinderella stories and true inspirations. If I were you I would get a trim, that's only b/c I'm too scared to see what would happen if I didn't.

now you know what im gonna ask......... which relaxer did ya use?? what strength??

Bree...I know this isn't a good idea but my mom mixed relaxers together. First she applied Elasta Qp Mild and it ran out so I couldn't just leave my hair partially touched-up. So my mom used Motions Mild on my hair too. My hair came out straight this time...no underprocessed hair. Plus I left it in longer than I ever had and got a few scalp burns. But I havent had scalp burns in a very long time, since I was younger. This only happened because I left the relaxer in too long (like I mentioned in another thread, I had to do a #2 in the bathroom

and the relaxer was in my hair for 20 minutes!

Hey Poohbear! I'm impressed with your growth! I'm doing the bun thing too, how's it working for you?

[/ QUOTE ]

At first I had been experiencing breakage but I think it was due to not using the right products. Now I use S-Curl for my ends and Silk Elements Styling gel to smooth my edges. I also avoid combing and brushing as much as possible. I think the bun method is definitely helping me retain hair length.
I am on the no heat challenge too but I have cheated four times
ohwell.gif
. Two weeks, I used a blowdryer, and two other weeks, I used a flat iron (my friend convinced me to flat iron when I had a lotta new growth). I'm going to try not to use anymore heat for sure so my hair won't be fried and dried!

Looking good! I am sure that you will be able to make it until October for the next t/u armed with all of the great tips from the board!

Congrats PB!! I remember you stated in another post that your mom relaxes all of your hair for your touch-ups. Were you successful in convincing her not to or did she do it again?

Yes! It was funny when I was telling her how I wanted my hair relax. I said, "Now when you relax my hair..." she interrupted me and said "...relax ONLY the new growth" and I just laughed
laugh.gif
. My mom is so funny and cool. She relaxed only my new growth and we used something to protect the rest of my hair if relaxer got on it.
