Today I went to my hairdresser to trim my hair and we both decided the best thing I could do was to all shave off!!! I nearly cried it didn’t matter that my hair was in terrible condition with patches all over it was still my hair.
I had relaxed hair for as long as I could remember as a child and through my teenage years. I had extremely thick hair and was told the only way to manage this was to relax it. The longest its ever been is about above my shoulders. When I reached my early twenties the crown of my started to thin, didn’t think much of just brought more products.
After having my son, my hair began to shed even more and now my scalp was covered with spots that where very sore and painful. After two years I was diagnosed with folliculitis on my scalp and prescribed antibiotics and an acne drug (I forget its name). I took meds continuously for about 2 yrs before it fully cleared up.
Now I didn’t really want to relax my hair again so I experimented with pressing out my natural hair this was fine until one day I got tired of my hair reverting and I was back on the relaxer again. When my hair started breaking and and shedding again I started to add tracks of weave, I remember it started with four and then grow to a whole head!! Basically the more damaged my hair became the more weave I added to cover it up!! I have had my hair continuously in weave for 8yrs and today I just thought I’ve had enough I need to work with what I’ve got.
Now I’m going to wait and see what grows as my hair is very patchy due to scarring from the follculitis and too many tight weaves.
I have been a member for nearly a year now and have learnt a lot for the LHCF, such as water is good for your hair etc. still trying to build my regime would welcome all advice.

Ps. I'm not rocking my hair like this as my scalp is very scarred. So my hairdresser made me a Riannah styled stocking cap which I love.
