I was wondering do you use protein as well. If so when and where does it fit into your regimen. I want to give co washing a try, but I know I need to incoporate my reconstructor as well. My other question is, is it necessary to deep condition when you cw? It seems like it can lead to build up and limp hair. I hope someone can answer these for me. TIA

I rarely use a specified protein, once in a while ...every three months or so an AOHOGEE 2step, reconstructors no set schedule just when I feel my hair needs it-please don't ask I couldn't tell you-my hair just knows-after a while it just becomes instinctual. I always deep con whether it's a con-poo or regular. I'm deep into my transitioning so I just do what my hair asks for.:ohwell:

I switch up conditioners, but I usually use a condish that has a natural wheat or soy protein in it since my hair loves protein like yours. I never had problems with limp hair or build up even when I leave the conditioner in all day. However, I don't use silicone containing conditioners and I supplement my hair care with pure aloe vera juice and coconut oil. HTH!

I use protein as needed, sometimes by way of using a protein conditioner for my cowash or prepoo, like V05 Extra Body. If my hair needs more protein, I get it during my DC. I would say I "listen" to my hair to know when I need protein, I don't have a set schedule and treat it accordingly. I guess I kind of anwered the other part of your question, but yes I still DC once a week and that's usually on my poo day. I've never had a problem w/limp hair, build up or on the other end of the spectrum, crunchy hair as long as I'm balancing what I do. If I cowash 3-6 days/wk, I make sure to use shampoo and DC one day out of the week. I prefer to use a chelating shampoo followed by a moisturizing poo then dc w/a moisturizing conditioner, or protein depending on how my hair feels. Other times, I'll use a moisturizing DC and just mix in one of my protein conditioners (lately Shescentit Fortifying Mask, but also Joico K-Pak Daily Reconstructor) to knock both necessities out in one punch. HTH.
May I add a question?
How often do you shampoo?
Depends on how often I cowash during the week. Like I stated above, if I cowash 3-6 times in a week, I'll make sure to use shampoo one day. If I'm only cowashing 1-2 times in one week, I'll skip the poo that week and only dc on dry hair, but when I do this, I make sure to use some shampoo by the 2nd or 3rd day of the following week.

^ I am very angry about that. I wanna try that soooo bad. When I go on vacation I will make sure I grab some.

I do protein every 2 weeks. I use Nexxus keraphix. I will do an Emergencee or Ahpogee every 6-9 months. I also henna every 5 weeks; not exactly protein but..you get the point.

I cowash 4-5 times weekly.

i use protein 1x a week after i wash my hair. i use aphogee 2 min reconstructor i also use a moisturizing dc afterwards.

I only cowash with moisturizing conditioners. I rarely use protein, just henna every month or two.

I use moisturizing conditioners for my co washes 2 - 3 x a week. I use a light protein on wash day which is once a week.
