How do you feel about the relaxer now? I have been researching what my next relaxer wll be for August. I permed myself with Vitale Life and Body and I managed to get scabs outta this world. I keep hearing this doesnt burn, but also I hear the relaxer doesnt last but three washes. Have the majority of you changed your mine on SE? Was it just another banwagon that tipped over?? If so, what have you switched to that made you happy?

I used SE regular lye for about a year or so. I just finished up the last of a big tub of it. I lused Vitale Mo'Body before SE, too. I'm on the fence about repurchasing the SE or trying something else.

I didn't have an issue of mine only lasting 3 washes. And, SE can burn but I never got the open, pussing sores like I had with Bantu....even though I'm thinking about going back to Bantu now that I know about adding castor oil to my relaxers and especially if I can get my hands on some liquid silk amino acids.

Good luck to you! I'll be watching this thread to see what others have to say.

I just switched to ORS Lye last night from SE and so far so good. I started to notice that my hair was underprocessed using SE and I loved it at first but then not so much now. Today my roots and my nape are finally straight instead of wavy like my last experience with SE.

I have been using SE for over a year now. I am still satisfied because I am a texlaxer so underprocessed is what I am going for. I love this relaxer because it allows me to be consistent. I don't want to switch back and forth and the ingredients seem pretty decent. It is inexpensive and it does not smell like a relaxer.

The only drawback is that if you don't base well you will burn. I learned this about 4 weeks ago:( The first time I put it in I didn't feel anything but this last time around I was fanning my head because it burned so bad and that was only after about 10 minutes.

The next time around I will be basing my scalp for a couple of days and laying off the boundless tresses for at least a month:)

I agree that the SE relaxer under processes the hair. I used it for my last three relaxers and everytime, my hair would be frizzy and wavy after about a week or two. I think that I am going to try the ORS Olive no-lye relaxer next time.

This is interesting. I just used SE for the first time on Saturday for a corrective and so far I  it!!! My hair felt so good and strong after using it. Now I am watching it carefully to see if I get increased shedding and reversion.

I sure hope not because I really love this relaxer.

ok. I've used SE mild and was underprocessed. Which is OK! because I wanted to be texlaxed. The problem I had is that I need to alternate between mild and regular so that I won't have breakage. I got that from the processed-underprocessed- processed thread. Moving forward I'm going to apply mild and regular like that. but I like my results good enough

This is an excellent idea. Thanks for sharing:grin:

I have used the lye Course formula for over a year. Finally a few days ago I just couldnt take it anymore. With the Vitamins, MTG, Castor oil, Bagging my hair was a huge underprocessed mop:arguing: . It was long and healthy but I couldnt DO anything with it so I picked up some Elasta QP No-Lye formula. I had gotten 3/4 of my head done and I ran out of perm :swearing: . I finished the last section my front left with leftover Silk elements. Their is a pretty marked differance between the sections. Most of my hair got strait like I wanted with just a small wave pattern but the front has is very wavy:ohwell: . I will need to pay extra attention to that section while conditioning.I will not be using Silk Elements again. I was thinking about trying ORS.

I still am, matter of fact, I relaxed my hair Monday and did my mom's today. For the first time, I used their neut. poo. I had been using Affirm, the results were even better this time around. So for right now, this is where I still am.

I have been using SE Regular for a year now, it's been my "starter relaxer" since I began self relaxing. Any underprocessing I have had, I attribute to my technique. My last touch up was the best one yet, I find it helps to use a generous amount of this relaxer. However I did pick up a tub of ORS Lye I may just finish the remaining bit of SE i have left and then move on to ORS lye.

Priestess, If the SE is working well, why are you contemplating the ORS Lye? I'm torn between the two relaxers. I was going to go with the SE Regular lye, but after reading some posts I'm nervous about underprocessing.

I've been using Silk Elements regular no-lye relaxer for about a year. Still in love with it! I started off using the original relaxer, now I use the olive oil one and love it even more

My hair comes out straight, smooth, shiny and soft. Never under or overprocessed, just perfectly straight :yep:

I think the problem is people using mild. I won't even attempt to try and use a mild on my newgrowth because it's just not strong enough :ohwell:

I've read about tons of lye relaxers leaving ladies underprocessed. The only ones that I can think of that don't underprocess are ORS Lye and Alter Ego Linage :yep:

I'VE BEEN USING SE FOR YEARS, through thick and thin. I have all the products. I love it. I agree it leaves your hair feeling smooth, silky, and soft, but yet strong. I just got SE put in on Friday and I can't stop touching my hair. And I don't really see any reversion, my hair stays straight, until the new growth really starts to kick in for me around week 5.....

I LOVE SE....my mom used to be a diehard SE, and she switched because she said it burns. She switched to Dr. Miracle. I gotta get her a LHCF membership. I haven't heard anything negative about Dr. Miracle, but I haven't heard anything postive either. The commercial alone makes me go :nono:

I got some burns last time, but I think it was because I worked out that morning and my scalp was still damp, but SE doesn't irritate my scalp as much as other perms, and I love how it makes my hair feel.

I recently (last two touch-ups) changed from SE to Affirm. I'm never going back. I liked it initially but the results never seemed to "last". Also, it was making my ends frizzy and they wouldn't stay put for nothin' :pullhair: So, needless to say, no more SE for me!
