Those that pre-poo with an oil

Do you warm the oil up then put it on your hair or do you just apply it and cover with a plastic cap? Also, what oil are you using?

Thanks

i do this like 4 times a year only lol but i always warm the oil. i like jojoba and cocanut.

I just apply it to my scalp, then to my hair. Tie my hair up with a scarf and go to bed. I use Vatika Oil infused with amla and shikakai powder.

I apply it to my hair liberally, put on a satin scarf and cap before bed. I use coconut or olive oil.

I use coconut oil or Ojon Restorative Treatment. I've also used castor oil. I don't warm it. I just spread it between my palms, apply to my hair and leave overnight.

I use a nozzle tipped bottle and massage it into my scalp really well. I also cover my hair with it, not enough that it is dripping down my back but enought to be really oily.

I oil rinse about twice of three times a week, depending on how I'm wearing my hair. Once a week, I warm it up, because it's the day I'm doing my shampoo and DC. The other days I don't.

When I pre-poo with oil, I typically use warmed up coconut and amla oil mixed with my deep conditioner or ORS pak. I apply this liberally, slap on a cap and let it sit for about an hour. I try to only sit under the dryer for about 15 minutes because the oil drips and can be messy.

If its Vatika oil I run it under hot water cause it solidifies in the bottle- any other viscous oil is applied at room temp.

Just a qustion for anyone I thought that when you pre-poo with an oil before you are ready to seal your hair with oil it will hinder any of the other products from working (con,moisture,leave-ins) thanks for any help

A pre- poo is short for a pre shampoo- befor I co-poo I clarify with ACV and that removes any product buildup

I've only done this twice so far and I love the way it leaves my hair ultra soft and manageable. The first time I used olive oil, and the second time I used coconut oil:love:, I always warm it up

Once a month I do a hot oil treatment with JBCO. Apply liberally, cover with a plastic cap, and sit under the dryer for 20 minutes. After this I shampoo and deep condition. When I detangle under the water my hair feels like butter. I'm lo-manip so I only comb once a week and 7 weeks post the comb glides through my hair.

I am using up Hot Six oil, otherwise I use Amla and I just put it on my hair, clip it up and wear it around for 1-however many hours. Into my stretch I apply it liberally to my roots and massage a little.

I don't warm up the amla oil. I just put it on at night and sleep.
I sweat H E A V Y in my sleep no matter what so I wake up and my head is super warm.:drunk:

I just recently started doing this last week and I am using a mixture of oils

rosemary
avocado
castor
almond
cinnamon.

I just purchased coconut oil and right now I don't heat it up. I just rub it between my palms and that helps melt it. I rub it all over, but try to concentrate alot on my ends.

Most of the time I heat up the oil in the microwave for 10 seconds. Then I drench my hair in it and then put on my plastic cap. I keep this on for at least an hour. Then I shampoo and condition as normal.

I do the same thing with mayonnaise, btw.

I pour my castor oil into a baggy(because the bottle is HUGE), then let it sit in a mug of hot water to warm it up. I apply to my hair and scalp liberally, put on plastic cap and sit under dryer for 15-20 mins.

If I'm gonna be in the house, I skip the dryer and just let it sit for several hours or tie up my head and go to bed before washing it out.

I just apply the room temperature oil. I just starting doing the pre-poo (although I've already seen fantastic results), but I use a combination of Amla, Shikaikai, and EVOO.

I use a nozzle tipped bottle and massage it into my scalp really well. I also cover my hair with it, not enough that it is dripping down my back but enought to be really oily.

This is my method of application too when I decide to do an oil treatment. I usually heat the bottle before application and then cover my hair w/ a plastic cap followed by my scarf and leave it on overnight.

I use Ojon Restorative Treatment, or coconut or olive oil. I apply them liberally.

I use everything at room temperature except I usually heat the olive oil. Sometimes I prepoo overnight and sometimes I sit under the dryer for 20-30 minutes.

Do you warm the oil up then put it on your hair or do you just apply it and cover with a plastic cap? Warm it and put a plastic cap over it.

Also, what oil are you using? amla, almond

is it a waist of time to pre-poo if you are just gonna clarify :ohwell:

I thought this would be the case too but I found that pre-pooing still seems to be effective even before a clarifying poo for me. I discovered this by accident one day when I pre-poo'd intending to use my regular shampoo but used the clarifying shampoo instead. I really liked the results on my hair. Now I pre-poo even before clarifying.
